Ugh, mapquest puts the drive time from Louisville to Maryland at just under 11 hours. I really wish I had some friends who actually enjoy metal and might give enough of a shit to go to this. The lineup looks fucking amazing. |

Maybe they are adding more black metal because they want to get more people to attend. If Marduk, Mayhem and Absu were not on this bill I wouldn't even consider going. As it is I'm going to have to sit through tons of shitty grind/brutal death bands just to get to the good stuff. |

FUCKING LEGENDARY! Cannot believe this lineup. I personally like the fact that there including black metal in this death fest. It makes it a hell of alot better. Some substance instead of just blast beats and pig squeals. I wish brutal/grind bands would come up with somthing memorable. It seems like too many bands just want to play super tech riffs at 300 bpm no matter what it sounds like. Come with some emotion. Like Bloody Tears from Castlevania on piano. |

The black metal sentiment in this thread is bothersome. There are literally four bands on the bill that could be considered 100% black metal: Keep of Kalessin (Norway) Absu (Texas) Marduk (Sweden) Mayhem (Norway) maybe you can add Enslaved to that list... MAYBE... Aside from Marduk, who bore me, I don't see how you can say Mayhem, Absu, and KoK destroy the festival's credibility as a death metal focused festival. To not go to the show because there are three or four black metal bands on is ridiculous, especially with the strength of the rest of the lineup. If you don't want to check out the black metal bands, go walk around the merch booths or something instead. |

Me and my friends will be attending this. This line up is phenominal and I about shit myself yesterday when they announced all those great bands to the line up. We went 2 years ago and it was a great time, I expect this one to be even better. |

The point is that in literally every other iteration of the festival it was almost 100% pure death metal and various grind and now they're incorporating fucking Enslaved of all things, who I like but still think are rather inappropriate to be playing with Devourment. |

I admit that enslaved are the odd ball band on the bill. I'm just stunned by the sentiment that because the 'fest is 97% death metal and not 100% death metal that it is somehow being compromised. Honestly, I consider those black metal bands to fit on the bill better than say, Drugs of Faith (who I really fucking love and will thoroughly enjoy at the show) or the myriad grind-wannabe bands. |

Killer band list. I need to move to the east coast - many of those bands will never come to my town. |

ASPHYX!!!! |

However, my collection is massively inferior (1 copy of the reissue w/ bonus trax) to yours, so I remain humble. That being said, I would kill to go to this! |

I spent 300 bucks on records and tshirts this year. There were a lot of good distros/labels, but since they are opening the second stage for next year I'm not sure how that will effect the merch (some of the merch seemed to be set up in the other stage area, but there was an additional room). |

I'll definitely be there. I am just waiting for the line-up to be announced. I can't believe the tickets are $115 though. I know there are a lot of great bands there but holy shit. |

I know there are a lot of great bands there but holy shit. Whoa thats like twice what it was last year... are you sure they're that much? that's the going price. Also, hopefully the distros there have a decent enough mix of stuff. While I love death metal, i'm much more partial to the older stuff, especially stuff from scandinavia like Demigod, Carnage, Excruciate, Sorcery, Grave. I've also been digging stuff like Hail of Bullets, Bolt Thrower, Sororicide, and others. I'm hoping to pick up some stuff like this, or newer bands with similar much darker sound in death metal than finding thousands of generic death/grind/pig squeel CD's Either way me, my fiance, a buddy of mine, his girlfriend, and possibly one of my best friends should be taking a car down from new hampshire for this. Can't wait. Atheist, Asphyx, Pestilence, Mayhem, Immolation, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Marduk, Absu....all in 3 days? HOLY SHIT! |

My 3 day pass for 2008 was 85 bucks, it's a 30 dollar increase, but there is an additional stage, more bands, and some bigger names (which means bigger guarantees), less than 40 bucks a day isn't bad. |

Do any of these other bands aside from Bolt Thrower, Pestilence, Asphyx play death metal? Or is this mostly a black metal festival? |

lol uh, yeah dude, definately. It is called the Maryland DEATHfest. Granted, I'll admit that they have more acts on this years bill that are not DM than ever before but none the less the majority of bands that will play do play Death Metal or grind. |

Why does it matter that much? Are you wanting to see if there is a day that you might not care to see? I'll definately be getting a 3 day pass. Although, I must say that when I went a few years ago just being in the venue 2 days in a row took a huge toll on me and my feet in particular. Its amazing how tired and sore you can get simply by just being on your feet for so many consecutive hours. It really sucked at times. |

Are you wanting to see if there is a day that you might not care to see? Well if all the great bands are on one day, not much of a reason to buy a three day pass. If you only really wanted to see a few bands, it might be worth it. Personally I can enjoy almost any band in concert so if I'm going I'd buy a three day pass. |

I hope they are playing at Wacken or Bloodstock, that's sure to sway my decision between the 2, at the moment both lineups seem pretty mediocre (and in the case of 1 particular band being announced for Wacken, absolutely atrocious) |
