Help me with this one, guys.
There was a black metal band which had an album with space/cosmic lyrical themes. If I remember correctly, album artwork showed cosmos and stars in the sky. First song on the album didn't had any black metal singing, but it featured narrator speaking about history of universe, I think from the Big Bang to the emergence of life on Earth.

Any idea what I'm talking about?

About 6 months ago I had a band show up in my Spotify recommended.

It was a death metal band that looks like had started in the mid 2000's. From memory there were 4 albums listed on their metal archives page, but no ep's, demos etc. At least 2 albums in the mid 2000's, maybe the other 2 in the early 2010's.
The bio made reference to them bursting onto the scene as a young band (or young members?) through impressive live performances at a musical festival / festivals.
One of the albums had a cover that was all very deep, dark reds - almost maroon or even brown - and black.
Logo may have been in an angular style? And I'm sure the name was only one word.
Musically it was nothing groundbreaking, but a very well done modern death metal that was clearly influenced by earlier pioneers (without being OSDM). It also wasn't weedly weedly tech death.

Has been on the mind for a while now and want to go back and listen again.
Thanks for any help.

Posting this prompted me to do some proper searching and I found it: Obliteration.

I was wrong on their back catalogue - 4 albums was right (2007, 2009, 2013, 2018) but there are plenty of demos and EPs as well.
The bio memory was pretty close - "In 2005 they played the Inferno festival and in 2006 the Hole in the Sky festival. These two high-profile performances led to their recording contract."
Red album cover was Black Death Horizon which is close but not quite to my original description.
Logo...not quite angular. I remembered it completely wrong.

It's interesting to look at how memory works, the things we pick up as being important or not etc

This is going to bed really fucking tough so I'm not expecting anyone to know. I'm looking for a death metal band, kind of cavernous sounding but at the same time riffy and dense, and the cover album kind of looks like a red sea swelling up to a circular wave and it's from either 2019 or 2020.

The music was metal but leaning towards hard rock at times. Something significant was that the vocals were quite clean and quite mellow in the performance.

Not much to go on but I hope someone might have an incling as to what this might be.

It sounds like you're describing Pulver's album from last year:

There was this death metal album (demo/ep?), I think it was brutal death metal. It sounded very dirty and grimy, there was one particular song I remember that near the end had these sustained cricket vocals and lots of weird inhale growls. The album art featured someone being blown while waving to his silhouette of a neighbor, there was probably a dead body somewhere there too. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

edit: nevermind, found it. It was Necrotorture.

Wondering if anyone could help me remember a power metal band. The album had a cover art with 2 knights on it, kinda looking like Death Adder from Golden Axe. The art was also pretty colorful if I remember right

Im also looking for a power metal band. I remember one song was something like Dragon of the Sea? "We Will wander with our crew until the worlds burn," that's all I remember of the song.

Hi guys,

Any idea what this lead is from? I've re-recorded it as faithfully as memory serves. It'll be Black Metal, most likely.

This is super vague, but I am trying to remember a bands video clip. The music was almost definitely black metal, and probably epic, folk, viking, pagan or something like that. I kept thinking it was Wolves in the Throne Room but it's not. I remember the vocalist, when he wasn't singing, holding his arms outstretched like he is embracing life or the sun, or just feeling the music. I remember thinking it was lame, but so lame it was cool, like they were so into it, it didn't matter that it was kind of lame.

Very vague but if anything rings a bell I'd be glad to see it, even if it's not the same video.

I believe I have this demo, but I need to know more details about your tape. Can you msg me the contents of that radio show?

Hi all. I have been going through my cassette collection, and found a couple of miscellaneous tapes of songs I recorded off the radio (Z-Rock and college radio) back in the mid- to late-80s. I have been able to identify every song but one, and it's a really cool song! Can anyone help me figure it out? It's driving me insane!

:brick:

One would think the title is "The Fall of the King", but no amount of searching for that or Googling the lyrics has returned a valid result. The singer sounds very familiar, so if someone can identify it, I'll probably end up feeling really really stupid, but I have been trying to figure this one out for quite a while, and I don't think I ever did know who this was by... Nothing else on the tape is newer than 1988, so that probably dates it to sometime before then. It's definitely 80s metal, and fairly heavy. I have transcribed the lyrics to the 1st verse and chorus, and included a link to the .mp3.

The sky is filled with ashen smoke
The towers burn, the walls they crumble
The bodies lie about the fields
No one is left to win the battle

The people can't believe their eyes
The king has fallen, to see him die!
A time of mystery, a time of death
The evil one's comin' out from hell

The fall - the fall of the king
The fall - the fall of the king

Thanks for your help! Someone here's gotta recognize it!

(in reference to the "Fall of the King" song)
I think it's this band, Haven. Working on tracking down their 1985 demo tape. No info on that tape seems to be online. I emailed a band that a couple of their members are in nowadays to ask them. We'll see - can't remember hearing anything that sounds this much like it, though.

The person who uploaded that video said they spoke with the former vocalist and he said Haven is not behind the "Fall of the king" song

Justing Whang made a video where he talks about it a bit
Spoiler: show
at the 1:38 mark. Apparently someone searched for the copyrighted material and found out that the song is form 1987 and was written by Bernard H. Cavasos.

a folk black band.
viking themes, and their logo has roots or something, maybe even their name is after a certain norse world, but I'm no very sure about that.
the easier part is that they currently release at a French label, which is active. You can guess I sifted the searches with that, but perhaps I didn't go through it with a fine tooth comb. on bandcamp, viking metal is one of their tags, it's how I found them

very good band, it's why it's bugging me

Simple one that shouldn't be too hard, but I can't seem to find the answer. Does anyone know who originally did the song "I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine?" I know it is a Poison song, but I am 99 percent sure it was an old punk cover. Can't find any information on it.

I remember seeing an album cover with jesus lying down nailed through the head on the cross. However, it was a long time ago and my memory might be playing tricks. I did find this album, which looks very similar to what I remember, except the nail through the head: https://www.metal-archives.com/albums/V ... vil/145416
Would anyone know if there is such an album that fits my description, or I probably remember it wrong?

Nope. You might be thinking of a cover that was done later, but the official song writing credits are attributed to the guys in Poison.

this may be a very difficult one to pin. It was some melodic death metal with kinda raw production, my guess is sometime from the 90s/possibly early 2000s. The cover art was very Dissection-esque, I remember it being a winter landscape with something that looked like a grim reaper riding a horse. This particular song had a really infectious tremolo picked intro riff that it sends itself off blasting into from the start. Any idea what this might be?

it may have been off an EP

edit: nvm figured it out again. artwork wasn't as Dissection-esque as I thought, just wintery. It was Depresy. not that raw either but solid melodeath here

Trying to remember a band, I think they're polish. Or romanian. They're folk black metal. The album cover was in a icy landscape with knights I think? I dont think they used electric guitars in one of their songs, I remember it was acoustic and keyboards and drums and had a very eerie keyboard intro, it was a very dark sounding song. Had it on my ipod for years but the title was completely gibberish so I had no idea who made the song.

Edit:I found it, never mind!

I just know it's from the "heavy metal" genre and during the song there are chains effects or sounds of someone in armor walking.
my father (who died years ago) played covers during my childhood and that song has been around my head for years.
I know it is almost impossible to find it, I trust the help of the community.
Midomi, Soundhound, Shazam It did not work out. u.u

Experienced audience, I appreciate your choices!

there's a standard "cheat" besides the content recognition sites these days, up the songs on youtube, and they might get a content ID there :) or simply smn might recognize them.

if your father played it in your childhood it must be a fairly well known "old" band... could it be Judas Priest's "Metal Gods"? the sound effects come in in the song's last minute...
