Girl posted this up on Facebook; piano sample that loops sounds a shit-ton like Ulver to me, but can't find the song... Can anyone let me know which song it's from, or is it an original that just has an Ulver vibe? I'm goin nuts trying to figure this out.

From what I've understood, this song is called Twice and is by Little Dragon. I even put it through SoundHound, I don't see what it has to do with Ulver.

Yes, the song is Twice by Little Dragon. I was wondering if the piano you hear looping through the entire track was originally composed by Little Dragon, or, as I suspect, has been sampled from a different song (and this is where Ulver would come in). But, I might be wrong and perhaps it's a wholly original composition.

Some strange force from deep within my metal heart tells me that that is highly unlikely :)

Reposting from the FFA:

Could someone help me to find a YouTube video whose name I've forgotten? It was a video of a guy playing on a larger than normal pink guitar with 30 frets. He was playing some sort of hyperfast Dragonforce-ish power metal, and he used his thumb to press on the frets at times. Thanks in advance.

(I know this is more like finding as opposed to identifying, but I figured it was worth a shot)

Hey everyone,
just watched the trailer on youtube for Lucifer Valentine's new masterpiece - "Black Metal Veins", about
Black Metal artists who are addicted to heroin (It's a documentary).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5VNUHx- ... re=related

Could someone please tell me what bands feature in that trailer PLEASE? Especially the woman Raven (I think
her name is) seems badass!

Any help would be much appreciated!

What is this folk metal song?

Sorry I only recognize this from the lyrics: "from the long... volvokin varin...", from what I can tell and from what Google Translator suggests, it's a Finnish folk metal song, I also know it's with female vocals, it was used as a Dubai TV commercial for promoting movies, so I suppose that the band is a bit commercial...

And as far as I know, the following Finnish folk bands are actually a bit mainstream: Finntroll, Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, Turisas, and Moonsorrow.

Any help is highly appreciated!

I have 2 songs I wish to know.

1. It had female vocals. The intro riffing was melodeath-y and slightly thrashy (think Arch Enemy's Nemesis). The chorus went something like "Don't you want to, don't you want to, don't you want to know me?" or something. Whatever it was, it was a fucking stupid chorus. Pretty sure it's relatively mainstream.

2. It sounded like some 80s funk. It had vocals that sounded like they were from a black woman. She sang nothing but "ba-di-ya, ba-di-ya, ba-di-ya-di-ya-di-ya" over and over again. There was really busy bass playing, which was pretty technical in comparison to the rest of the son. Had lots of slap bass playing. Very vague I know, but worth a shot I hope.

Neuropathia's Bubba Luciferi album has at least one sample from The Naked Gun...

Edit: It's not Neuropathia. I've given this one a fair crack, but still can't find the band/song you're after. It is indeed a Leslie Nielson quote, from the movie Spy Hard.

RIP Leslie

Knew it! At first listened many songs from Celtic Frost & Hellhammer cause one riff sounded so obvious. But seems like I missed that song and later started to search it from demo era Carpathian Forest. Should stick on that CF/Hellhammer hunch

The "lyrics" don't look familiar, but the rest of your description fits Rose Royce. Try the song Get Up Off Your Fat.

Those lyrics tell me nothing, but might wanna check out "Mother's Finest" as well. Many clips of their greatest hit 'Baby Love' on youtube for comparison.

Post subject:  Re: Song ID Thread

You know what's funny is that song identification is a problem I have with other genres, namely country and folk, but never with metal. This is largely due to my appraoch to listening to metal, which is to focus more on sound and texture than actual individual songs.

Author:  Sir Sly Ry [ Mon Jul 09, 2012 8:50 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Song ID Thread

Hey folks. So this isn't about finding an individual song, but an album. All I have to go off of is the cover art. On the cover were deer or elk or some sort of hoofed animal, I'm almost certain. And the cover didn't look too fantastical, but between the antlers it looked like....a rainbow prism or something weird like that. I think the album came out in the summer of 2008 because I'm pretty sure I read a review for it in the August issue of Decibel.

I know I didn't give you much to go off of but thanks in advance for any help. I doubt I'll even like the album but damn, I just want to know what it is.

edit: Nevermind, someone found it for me (= Pyramids

Not metal, but this question has been bugging me for years, and I never really got around to asking anyone about it.

Post subject:  Re: Song ID Thread

I remember somebody here posting it up in one of those "how did you get into metal threads"... Basically, it was a fairly brutal death metal band from the US and the song in question was supposedly their flagship tune, according to the poster who saw the band live and said it was one of his first shows. The names of either the song or the band contained "venereal" or possibly "venereal disease", the song had fairly melodic guitars and low death metal vocals as well as a skank beat throughout, no blasting if I remember correctly. Anybody have any ideas?
