It doesn't bother me if they release the album. Hellhammer never had to do anything for Euro's parents. I think he was just trying to be polite due to the circumstances. Euro's parents had no rights to the music, so if the band wanted to leave the album as it was then that's their choice. If they wanted to turn down the bass then that's fine too. It's their music, so they should do what they want to do. |

Since it's a legit release sanctioned by the band, shouldn't someone add it to their discography? |

Seriously, do you think 25$ is much for this? That's about the normal price of a CD here in Norway, if you buy in a CD-store. And this is a limited digipack (3000 copies) including Attila's own notes and previously unseen pictures, 10 stickers and a poster. I think it's a very fair price, if I was a huge fan of Mayhem I would definately buy this. |

We don't know the tracklist yet to add it. I'd guess Life Eternal, Freezing Moon, Funeral Fog, De Mysteriis... and Pagan Fears. |

I thought it was just 5 songs. |

For all we know it could be a re-recording that never got off the ground. I know Oystein Aarseth's mother appealed to Hellhammer about having the Count's bass work on DMDS taken out and redone. Never happened. or at least never released. |

Has anyone managed to hear this yet? I'm fearing this will turn out to be just an incomplete, but official version of From The Darkest Past. |

From the Darkest Past is a completely different recording of a rehearsal, this is, from what I can gather, the actual and original De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas recordings untouched by the later mixing changes to the album after Euronymous' death. |

![]() Seems like your typical new-Mayhem cash-grab. It wouldn't surprise me if the number of alternative recordings, b-sides, live-albums, officialized bootlegs and other redundancies outnumber their actual albums three to one. I think the sound on DMDS is suitable too. Leave it up to Mayhem for the ubiquitous bullshit rehashing of their past, although they probably have nothing better to hold on to. One of the worst discographies ever known to metalheads.

You guys realize that this is one of the first releases from Atilla's label, correct? It's really worth it for his linear notes alone, as long as they're decent and not one or two sentences. This is essentially DMDS without the bass being turned down (no matter how little the levels were actually changed during mixing). Awesome |

MA exists for a reason MM86, go to the Mayhem page and read. Hell, go to their website, are a few clicks (and a minimal piece of typing) really too hard?

It is the entire album and the bass is not the only thing that is different. There are some alternate vocals, as well. Possibly a few other things. The recording is something Attila has personally and he is the main force behind it being released. |
