Well the three new songs on the The Dio Years comp were great, so I don't see any reason to have anything but high expectations.
Should be good.

It has the potential to suck because of how a lot of comeback albums do end up sucking or being mediocre at best. But on the other hand, I've heard they sound great live so we can at least expect some good musicianship even if the music lacks in the quality of the songwriting. |

I will buy it via iTunes for cheaper but I won't have any expectations for it. I welcome it more than the supposed Black Sabbath reunion studio album that probably won't happen. |

Vinny Appice didn't even appear on the actual Heavan and Hell album so I think that name was sort of a misnomer but he did drum for them in the best non-Ozzy lineup so it's cool. Anyhow, I am going to wait until the album comes out rather than sneak peak it. |

Nah, The Dio-era and Ozzy-Era (Gillan was kind of transitory...) were compeltely different sounding bands. Why bother? Theres only two of the original members. |

Bill had it fucking nailed - the tone, the groove and the sound. Watch the live version of War Pigs from 1970 great stuff. Vinny, too, is awesome not as good as Bill was in his prime but I do love his playing. These days he's a lot better than Bill, who's in pretty bad shape after the whole heart attack/alcoholism deal. |

Bill Ward was fucking awesome for the type of stripped down skinning that was required for doom metal. Sure, he was no Bonzo or Neil Peart but why would he have to be to be great? Self-Titled through SBS was some great drumming that I always can't get enough of on those plays. |

Damn it, I take one day off the internet and people are onto this before me. I've been rabidly scanning for information on this for ages. The Dio Years tracks were brilliant (tell me that 'Shadow of the Wind' isn't a monster doom riff in the grandest tradition), and in short I can't wait. I'll just be glad that a band with this history will no longer be thought of as going out with a wimper on that unenthusiastic rush job of an album that was 'Forbidden'. The first studio album in fifteen years? Bring it on. |

Once H & H finishes the album and support tour, that will probably be it for awhilefrom them as maybe Black Sabbath might do something. If he doesn't resume Dio, who here would like to see a Rainbow reunion with Ronnie and Ritchie? That would pretty much be a nice summation and farewell to a nice career for Ronnie. |

Although Ward is one of my favorite drummers (and a huge influence on my playing), Vinny is clearly the tighter drummer and more Bonham influenced then anything. Ward's playing up through Volume 4 is extremely influencial and his playing was pretty funked out. I dig that whole vibe though. Anyway, about a new album with Dio, IMO cool. Better do it before he's 70
