It seems that they are reactivated, does this mean that there is a chance at a new album? Are they playing live at all?

They will probably want to bang out at least a few new tunes before playing any shows which is always a good idea so as to re-invigorate the interest again and to have something new to present along with their reunion.

Really? I thought they played a one time show at Wacken or some other fest some years ago. Would be great to hear some new stuff, and is it with their first vocalist? or both? Possessed by fire is such a great album.

"In 2009 the thrash metal legend EXUMER will return with both vocalists for the first time in the band's history and will deliver a new, third album that will prove that EXUMER deserves their cult status in the realm of thrash metal and beyond. "

From the Exumer myspace which is apparently monitered by Mem Von Stein.

Wow, I can't wait, hope they'll do some festivals! It's funny how great underground thrash bands like exumer reunite and makes new album. Sacrifice are making a new album as Pestilence.

That's equivalent of, "hey look! We're old school... we're important too!"

I'll be really letdown if they release a release an album like Laaz Rockit's new one, or The Atrocity Exhibition. Considering the fact that Possessed By Fire is one of my favorite thrash albums.

If they come out with something fresh yet reminiscent of their old stuff (like Destruction and Vulcano), I will be very pleased.

Not expecting much as most comeback albums turn out to be uninspired and watered down compared to their old material or to many young thrash bands today. I say this every time a 80s thrash band reforms.

I will keep an eye out for them as Possessed by Fire is one of my favorites.

I heard that news and I hope in a live comeback as soon as possible!

Where did some of you guys buy your Possessed By Fire album at? I can't find it anywhere in a local record shop.

Let's hope it's just some live stuff or something, I'd rather they don't try anything new here... as others have already said, there's just been too many disappointing classic thrash band "comebacks" thesedays.

That and I don't like Sun Descends, Mem Von Stein's other newer band.
(even though it destroys stuff like Laaz Rockit's newest, etc)

Looking how Exumer performed at Wacken some years back, I have the same strange feeling, like when hearing that Assassin have reformed. And "The Club" is not good in my ears...

If you like Exumer, try to get Sun Descends - Incinerating The Meek CD (Mem von Stein's other band). With this record they come very close to old Exumer. Something me thinks will not be the case with the reformed band.

It would be great if they could come to Sweden :)

Peter we don't disagree much, but Sun Descends is awful, and live an absolute atrocity..

I found it at a used record store along with the other album, as well as the two Exhorder album just next to them.

I got them for something equivalent to 6 or 7 $ a piece. That was a nice deal.

Hehe, probably not, but that particular Sun Descends release is extremely good. Their other releases are not of my taste, but Incinerating The Meek has that nice feeling to it. Never saw them live though.

They'll probably make some new songs before they have shows anywhere, but it would make sense if they had some shows first, got some new fans that way, and then released the new songs, then went back to the same places a year or so later with the new shit so the fans can see what they were originally gonna give them.
