I know it's quite stupid, but I always had a kind of mental block against bands labeled "legends of the genre" - don't know why. That had been the reason I never checked out anything by Iron Maiden until last month or so, when I happened to talk about music with my PE teacher. He asked whether I listened to the Irons and then was nagging me about it. After that I decided to check them out and now I see I was quite an idiot :D

Speaking of Repulsion - I never who they were. I had this blank tape with "Genocide" etched into both sides and thought it was klller. I was rather pleased with the somewhat better production of Repulsion.

I do not recall hearing the first few Judas Priest albums. Looking over the track list to "Sad Wings" does not ring a bell. In fact, nothing (except what has been covered) looks familiar until I get to "Stained Class."

Deplorable is the only word that comes to mind. I need to set aside a week to listen to Priest and then catch up on Razor.

I am amazed at the quantity of metal classics I haven't heard yet. However, I listened to Atheist-Piece of Time for the first time about 6 months ago, and 2 days later I listened to Emperor-In the Nightside Eclipse for the first time as well. Don't blame me, I have geographical reasons for this.

To be perfectly honest, Morbid Visions is nothing special, there's far better albums in that style from that era. The production is less raw and more thin and weak unfortunately.

Troops of Doom still dominates though. :metal:
To be even more honest, Morbid Visions has such a bad production that it pisses me off and makes me not want to hear it thoroughly. And the songs are very primary in their construction, so just skip to Schizophrenia.

Hmm, would you consider Covenant from Morbid Angel a classic?

If so, then I'm listening to it for the first time right now.

Propably Autopsy - Mental Funeral few months ago. I've heard many times old death metal classics like Morbid Angel, Death, etc. but i haven't like any of them. For some reason, i bought Mental Funeral because it has fucking awesome cover and actually the album is, best pre-2000 death metal record for me.

Of course there are many many others too (yes even all Black Sabbats, Judas Priests, Iron Maidens, etc... but i dont give a shit about that crap hehe) but because my personal classics are roughly 95% post-2000 releases, i dont have a reason to start listen every of these old classics. Maybe someday, who knows.
