I am working on a Dimebag Darrell tribute video. That I should have uploaded by tomorrow afternoon. I was wondering if you have any pictures you want me to add to this video. Or if you can find some good pictures.

Thanks, it would be much appreciated

We would probably be able to give suggestions better if we saw a preview of what you have done so far.

Well I haven't done anything except found about 11 pics, (still looking for more) and some video clips of Dime.

Just if anyone has pics they have found on the internet that are good ones. I would like to throw em in here.

I just got it done. It took me about 45 minutes or so.

I will post it now. I don't know if it's just me, but I thought I did good on it. Hopefully you will all think the same.

:violin:

Tribute video would be a LOT better if there actually was some metal playing. I'm sure Dimebag wants to be remembered because of his music, not his death.

You should've included some pics from the 80's.

I used to be an avid Pantera fan. My interest has waned in the past year or so. In any case, I think it would be best if we just let the man die. He has been mourned to the fullest, you can't just keep bringing up the fact that he died though. Just put it to rest people.

I agree even more because I probably had to pay 50$ extra for his signature on the Dimebuker pick-up which it happens to be the one of the good metal pickups, yet it has an inflated price because of some douche got killed for his music being so bad. (Theory not on Wikipedia)
So remember kids:

You shouldve just bought a Bill Lawrence XL (?) pickup, which is basically the same thing (Dimebucker was modeled after it) and alot cheaper (60 bucks or so last I read but that was a few years back).

My fave pickup happens to be the Steve's Special, which John Petruci is infamous for using (and his pickups in the MusicMan are modeled after as well).

Its weird at first because you're probably used to mid heavy pickups, and this one has scooped mids, but its smooth as hell (and the mids on your guitar or amp surely make up for the scoop) and works well in all sorts of ways. My favorite pickup, and its not as hot as some but works better than any pickup ive used.. may sound thin with certain eq settings but for me its smooth as butter and makes the guitar sing with pleasure.

Ok, im digressing.

Pantera seems to get a lot of shit on here, and I sense a lot of the people are just hate followers and have no other good reason to hate than to seem kvlt and then there's some who probably have a legitimate reason(s).

Pantera's music was not horrible, but it did inspire many of horrid bands, especially due to Phil's vocal approach and lyrics.

Dime's guitar work was pretty good, sure there's better but I'm sure there's more who are worse players.

Nice video, I definitely would have chose "Hollow" for the song.

This can be added to the long list of throwaway crap that's done because of his death. Tribute videos, shirts, beer mugs, trucker caps. Seriously, folks.

Because it doesn't need to be done. There are a bazillion other tribute videos and a bazillion other better tribute videos.

Just because it happens for those other people doesn't mean it should. Again, mourn to the fullest, but just let these people die.

And please spare us the "HURR DURR You all only hate them because you're all followers. " They are disliked because they aren't that great and they're lauded as gods. Mostly by people who wouldn't know metal if it bit them in the face.

I suppose I should refrain, as I made a few tribute videos a while back. One for Kevin DuBrow, and one for my cousin who died a few years back. I didn't think there would be that many for KD, which is why I made him one. I made one for my cousin because obviously, no one is going to make one.

But you're talking making ones with an legion of fans with nothing better to do than make countless tribute videos for people who already have a bunch.

Pointless.

If it's a way for them to mourn, let them, It's not hurting you in any way shape or form.

And I never said all we're followers in the hating. I said some.

Pantera were one of the most popular and best selling metal bands of all time, so of course their going to get a God status amongst people. And I wont argue that it's mostly from people who only know mainstream metal. But so what, let them think that. It's a matter of personal opinions sometimes.

It's hurting me because I'm sick of hearing about it. I hear people talk about how awful it was that he died every fucking year. Yes it was tragic. Yes it was terrible. Yes I loved Pantera. Yes I think Dimebag was a great guitarist as far as solos go. NO I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD ONLY REMEMBER FOR THE FACT THAT HE DIED.

Ever thought that some people actually might dislike the music so bad that they hate it ?
I haven't heard about any trend hating Pantera be cool stuff, though you're probably right.
I really hate Pantera in the way I hate other bands: Dragonforce, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Burzum, Mayhem, Opeth, Slayer, AC/DC - because I dislike the sound so much that it gets annoying and goes further into the vicinity of hatred.
The OP had good intentions of just making a video of his favourite metaldude, and he was actually asking for help, but no...the elite has to come and say with their high self-esteems: "oh noez not Pantera, I might like it when I gets drunk at parties with ladies so noez"
