One band that, I just can't get enough of is As Hope Dies. They sound like a typical metalcore band. But I am trying to fit them into a genre. Is it Melodic Death Metal?

They have a sadness to it. Kind of like Dark Tranquillity but without the keyboards.

If anyone has heard of As Hope Dies and their cd Legions Bow to a Faceless God, I need more recommendations on that style. They broke up and I am stuck with just this cd.

Other bands that kind of capture the sound I am looking for, but now quite are

Injustice, I like it but the clean singing in it I can't handle

Sylosis - Conclusion of an Age, I like the melodies at time, but am still in need of the 'sadness' haha.

Plague of Ashitaka - Taking Lives On Ancient Tides, this is the closest i could find. The vocals are almost the same (exept for the low ra rara reeeeeees), and has some really really awesome parts. Very memorable.

you cannot go wrong with Gates of Ishtar.
