The most recent bargain was an Iron Maiden Aces High picture disc for $5 at the local record store.

Around 1992 I was at a big independent record store that always had a great metal section in the basement (almost all vinyl; tons of imports and obscure releases) and this one day when I get there they were at the end of selling off all of the metal albums they had and I bought about thirty or forty pieces for one or two dollars a piece. That was my best haul ever.

Getting a huge amount of metal albums (most of emperor's discography, some morbid angel, etc. etc.) in exchange for a few numetal / more mainstream cds (devildriver, archenemy, lacuna coil)

Tales of the Thousand Lakes for 8 bucks at a used CD store, Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk for the same price at the same place about 6 months earlier. Normally I don't find too much good there, but when it clicks, it sure does click.

Tons of great finds, but in the past few months I've picked up the following:

Isis - Sgnl>05 gray LP ($15)
Isis - The Red Sea aqua 8" ($20)
Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh/None So Vile LP ($10)
Lurker of Chalice - Lurker of Chalice red LP ($20)
Queens of the Stone Age - Queens of the Stone Age CD ($10)
Trouble - Psalm 9 CD ($6)
Trouble - The Skull CD ($6)
Swans - Cop/Greed/Young God/Holy Money CD ($16)
Michael Gira - The Somniloquist CD signed ($8)

It seems like at least every month or so, I stumble across something out-of-print for a pretty damn good price. I eagerly await the day I come across Immolation's "Close To A World Below" on vinyl.

One day when I was working at JB HiFi I spotted a copy of Call of the Wretched Sea on a shelf in the back area and asked the boss of music department if I could buy it.

She tells me that everything on the shelf was just going to be shipped to the central store to fill bargain bins and that I could have as many of them as I wanted for $4 each. Needless to say, I grabbed the whole metal shelf and started searching for good ones.

I came out with about twelve new albums that day.

I got a Yngwie Malmsteen record signed for $4.50. The guy selling it didn't see the signature, so I got a great deal!

My bargains generally come from importcds. They have their own website but I get to them through Amazon. A few of my finds:

Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger [ordered last night], Under A Funeral Moon
Venom - Black Metal
Sodom - Agent Orange
Burzum -Det Som Engang Var

All of them new, average price $8-9, give or take a buck. Transilvanian Hunger was actually $7 and some change. On top of that, they always arrive in a matter of days, despite them being based in California [me being in Ohio].

And no, they did not pay me to post this :P

Atheist - Piece of Time, first press ($15)

That's about it I think. The CD shop here once had both Ludichrist albums for like 3 bucks each, I'm kicking myself in the ass for not jumping on that.

Also, it's not metal, but definitely the best bargain I will ever find:

The original Star Wars trilogy soundtracks. Original pressing, boxed set for $19.96 USD

Me? Nothing. I can occasionally hit the jackpot at the used CD store, but my buddy has much better luck than me there. HE finds an original pressing of Scream Bloody Gore for $7. HE finds the original press of Painkiller (I can only seem to find the fucking reissue). HE finds all of the awesome shit for dirt cheap there, and all of the awesome stuff I got from there (Don't Break the Oath, Follow the Blind) were originally found by him and then given to me.

I purchased that Vinterland disc for under $10. Don't know if it still counts as a bargain if it was bought over ten years ago though.

I found a Stryper picture disc at the local thrift store for fifty cents last year :oh shit:

I got D66's rise of the phoenix and a Midvinter album for $10. Neither aren't that special though.

I remember Freshman year in high-school my friend sold me a Slipknot CD for 10 cents because he didn't quit have enough money to get a coke out of the coke machine. I ended up hating it and selling it to someone else for $4.

I would say so considering that people will now pay close to and possibly over $200 for it.

I was at some random ass Goodwill (a thrift store) and found Dark Forest's Aurora Borealis for 1 buck. I was quite excited, even though I don't listen to it that much it was still cool, and a decent album.

There is like this weird second hand goth store in the city near me and the guy who runs it is a massive BM fan. Some of the most obscure shit in the BM genre (orchestral, ambient, raw etc.) and it doesn't matter how rare the albums are, they all sell for $25 each and EPs are $15.
I haven't got anything from there yet but I will soon.

Rotting Christ - Triarchy Of The Lost Lovers - $4
Covenant - In Times Before The Light (Original Pressing) - $30, but really, it's a bargain at any price... >_>

EDIT: How did i forget?! Immortal - Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism (Original Pressing) - $7

All ammounts in USD.
