Hi,

I'm looking for bands that their lyrics are based on horror/paranormal/mysterious legends themes in all geners of metal music (especially death and black).

Can anyone recommend me something?

Hypocrisy is an obvious one. All their albums from The Fourth Dimension to the Arrival deal with themes such as alien and paranormal. Just avoid th original releas of Catch 22.

when you say "horror" do you mean like horror movies, there is tons of death metal bands that are inspired by horror....
Razorback Records has a ton of bands inspired by horror films
like Hooded Menace,Revolting, Frightmare, Crypticus...
Mortician is also completely inspired by horror films...

Bal-Sagoth uses Lovecraftian themes, with an emphasis on the Cthulhu mythos.

many of Manilla Road's albums have lyrics based on lovecraftian horror themes, as well as historical myths and legends, most of the time based around epic themes, but they have many many songs on horror lyrics as well (especially in the late 80s)

check out their album "mystification" the entire album (or at least most of it) is based on edgar allen poe's works

Also frogs Yyrkoon gets a recommendation from me. Occult Medicine is based on the Re-Animator series.

I'd second that, I'm listening to it right now actually. Great thrashy death metal with lyrics about zombies and such.

... are you retarded?

Back on topic though, I would agree with King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Bal-Sagoth, and Manilla Road. Those are all great bands, paranormal subject matter or not.

Manetheren is a USBM band that has lyrical themes that follow: Paranormal, Geists, Spectres and Wraiths.

I suggest you start with their latest release, Solitary Remnants.

Damn, I wanted to mention those. Those are two of my favorite bands. :headbang:

But to add something usefull to the thread: you might want to check out Dagorlad (from Belgium). They have a very dark atmosphere, perfect for the horror they sing about on their "Incantations" album. http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=1744

venom's countess bathory, tormentor's elizabeth bathory both deal with the quasi-mythical countess who other than being a notorious mass murderer was thought to be a vampire if that helps.

Morpheus Descends' "Chronicles of the Shadowed Ones" is based on Brian Lumley's Necroscope series.

Uhh... that is all that really comes to mind right now.
