Alchemist - Alpha Cappella Nova Vega

Pretty sweet chunky riffs and breezy psychedelic melodies - a cool listen. I should get more of their albums.

Don't Break The Oath is essential for metal heads and is probably considered a heavy metal masterpiece.

I won it in a superbowl bet in 1999 and it was my first intro to King Diamond. I had been missing out until that point.

I like it better than Melissa myself, KD sounds better and I think the songwriting is tighter.

Ace_Rimmer, I think Melissa is better than Don't Break The Oath. Melissa has more melody within their music.

Can we all just agree that both Melissa and Don't Break the Oath are phenomenal albums?

Kawir - Προς Κάβειρους (To Cavirs)

Excellent greek BM, I feel this band is sort of forgotten by a lot of people.

Pillorian - Obsidian Arc

Never spun this once during 2018 but glad I decided to dig it out today - I prefer it to Agalloch. 80%

Mayhem - Funeral Fog

Couldn't stand Atilla before but I'm coming around. The relentless guitars help. :hail:

Woods of Ypres - Mirror Reflection & the Hammer Reinvention

This album gets way too much hate on this site. There are some gems on here, and this is one. I love when it picks up in the second half.

Vemod - Venter på stormene

Wow! Loved the spaced out melodies on this one. Atmospheric, mournful, and quite beautiful.

Warrant - Uncle Tom's Cabin

Ripping tune. Too bad they didn't write whole albums with balls like this.

Burzum - Key to the Gate

Lords of Chaos got me listening to Burzum again for the first time in years. Classy guitar solo in this one. Pretty insane he recorded all this classic material in just a year or two.

Wrest does no wrong, musically.

Anthrax - Among the Living

Still one of the best thrash metal songs ever recorded. The slow, wicked intro riff followed by ominous pounding drums acts as a prelude to 5 minutes of what I like about Anthrax's style of thrash: Belladona's melodic wails, hardcore-style gang vocals, multiple tempo changes, solid riffs, and mind-bending solos. Anthrax has been regarded as an outlier among the big 4. I say revisit their albums, especially this one and come back to me and tell me this song alone isn't worthy of inclusion into thrash's four-headed royalty.

Imperial Triumphant - Vile Luxury

It's basically Deathspell Omega worship. At least in certain parts of their songs.

In Flames - Stand Ablaze

A true classic melodic death metal song. If you replace the harsh vocals with melodic vocals, this could easily be a power metal with its heightened melodic guitars.

I think this band is way better than Venom.

Carpathian Forest - Bloodlust and Perversion

It has a very lo-fi sound but I don't mind that characteristic.

Wongraven - Det var en gang et menneske

Nice stuff. Not anything exceptional to my ears, but good stuff to chill out to.

Sanctifica - In the Bleak Midwinter

Nice and melodic, cool use of synth.
The split with Pantokrator is a great release.

Blazon Stone - Mask of Gold

Wanted to put on a BS album, so I wnt with the third one.

Killer Running Wild inspired speed metal.
Such a good feeling from it.

Ares Kingdom- Incendiary

I'm way way late to the Ares Kingdom hype train, but it sure is great. Speedy, aggressive, and just the right amount of dirt on the production. Don't know why I've slept on it for so long.

Angel Sword - Heavy Metal Night

More finnish Heavy Metal, killer stuff.
Love the vocals.
Perfect when your half drunk in the night.
