A classic!

Wuthering Heights - The Desperate Poet

That opening solo is godly.

October Tide - Ephemeral

Been thinking this really might be my favorite harsh vocal performance by Renkse on this track. Even considering how much I love early Katatonia. That last 'It's the end of the world' does it for me every time.

KOKIA - Watashi ga Mita Mono

This woman apparently does nothing but write beautiful songs.

:np: Howl - Full of Hell

Relapse still has some bands worth investigating. This is one of those bands. Riffy, sludgy stuff that's not gonna bullshit you.

Sleepwalker - Track 3

This may be the most honest combination of "post-rock" and black metal I have ever heard. Though the mixture makes some people cringe, I doubt anyone has heard it done quite like this. The way this track fades out is just beautiful. One of my favorite tracks of all time.

Before: Decapitated - Organic Hallucinosis

Great album from this band. It's too bad that the last two songs are a little weaker, thus ending the album on a lower note than it could've, but otherwise this is stellar stuff. The cleanest production of anything they've done, including Carnival is Forever, but I think it works here. "Post(?)Organic" is a bitchin' track and my favourite from this.

Now: Portal - Swarth

Getting pumped for Vexovoid, so I decided it was time for some other Portal. It's meandering and bellowing guitar tone makes for some uneasy listening, despite the fact that Swarth is their most accessible to date. Still a haunting listen and hopefully a band I will one day see live.

I know!

Reanimator - Exterminate The Weak
Checking out some modern thrash. Holyshit, the vocals are terrible.

Vomit the Soul - Apostles of Inexpression

Since I am deployed and can't give the new Katalepsy album that everyone seems to be going apey over a proper listen, I will jave to make do with this for the next 9 days. It better be as good as some of you lot are making it out to be cause I don't know if I can take the dissapointment.

Dead Can Dance - Anabasis

This is quite good, driven by a repetitive, vaguely middle-eastern undercurrent, and wholeheartedly powered by those vocals of Lisa Gerrard. It's a grower though, both in scale and grandeur, starting to fully unwind towards the end. Beautiful.

Smile Carved Sour -- Enemies Of The Sound You'll Never Hear

Quite messed up stuff from Norway. Has a nice trumpet (!) solo. Avant-garde black metal is the tag, but the band has much more to offer.

Fleshgod Apocalypse- The Violation

I really shouldn't like this. "Agony" made them into the Dragonforce of death metal; over the top, a tad gimmicky, but still lots of fun. Still prefer "Oracles" though.

Katalepsy - Autopsychosis - Cold Flesh Citadel

Such a crushing groove to the main riff. The breakdown at the end just sets this song off. This album is just loaded with riffs.

Witch In Her Tomb - VII

Increasing the production values for their contribution to Fallen Empire's "Svn Okklt" sampler, Witch In Her Tomb show that they're all style and no substance, as I had expected since my first listen to their raving reviews-receiving demo tape.

Conception - Gravity

This song has some of the heaviest riffs the band ever came up with. No idea why it's a bonus track though.
