Primordial - Spirit The Earth Aflame

I slept on Primordial for too long and have come to realise that I now love them.

Amaranthe - 82nd All the Way

Y'know...this album is actually not half bad. It's also half bad, but also not half bad. I suspect that the guy from Dynazty has something to do with it, because the songs that are actually fun sound suspiciously like Dynazty songs...

Also this Sabaton cover is fun. But that's because it's a Sabaton song without Joakim and his 34th Kazoo Brigade ruining it.

Falconer- Busted to the Floor

My favorite Falconer album isn't safe from filler.

Helloween - Out for the Glory

Hell of a fun opener so far.
Interested in seeing where the rest of this album goes. I wasn't really into the last one, tbh.

Trelldom - Sannhet, smerte og død

Iconic. The main riff is so recognizable, especially when it returns towards the end.

Vomitain - Bunker Tapes

Vomitor songs and a cover of Blasphemy's Demoniac with with two members of Watain? Yes please.

Yet another recording of the track Neutron Hammer? Double yes please.

Votum - Duhkha

Wow, they really keep evolving and getting darker and more intense with each release. How is this band not already huge on the prog metal scene is beyond me.

Nightmare - The Dominion Gate pt. III

This band has gone through so many style/member changes, it barely sounds like the same band that made "Waiting For The Night".

Pharaoh - Ride Us to Hell

Every part of this band is always doing something fascinating. That gives it this real DIY, personal and hard-working feel. These guys and Briton Rites both don't play live apparently and it just goes to show you about craftsmanship alone and how that can be its own appeal. This is some seriously vital, fatalistic stuff and every note seems to bleed importance.

Bolzer - Phosphor

No idea what the lyric translation is on this one,but i still keep going back to the 'Hero' lp and marvel at the (seemingly) effortless songwriting of it all.

Corrosion Of Conformity - Forgive Me

A very METAL riff here on the last record. The acoustic spacer before it was asking for a Dixie Dave vocal but we never got one.
Ah well,maybe next time.

Vulture - The Court Of Caligula

Punchy as all hell riffing on the closer.
Almost blew it with that vocal effect at the last minute but they never followed it up with another take thank fuck.

Nightwish - Dark Chest of Wonders, but the remastered one from the upcoming "Once" reissue.

The bass is certainly more prominent (especially at the beginning), but overall I think I prefer the way the original sounds.

Dark Quarterer - Crazy White Race

we shoot our arrows, we shoot our lances, so every night
will be a nightmare for this crazy white race
help me Manitou, Help us Manitou
In Shelton Canyon, We believe in peace
But general Miles, Forgot all the treaties betraying us again
Reduced as slaves, inside a reserve
Condemned to live, Without dignity no future for us
Where are you Manitou, Where are you Manitou
Great Spirit I ask you, To save my lost soul
It's blinded by revenge
but you know that It's never been so damned before
I will ride one more time, Along the "Gila" shore

Guilty Gear Strive OST- Let me Carve Your Way

Holy shit. It's like a combination of Queen and Sigh. It's so wacky and then you get the last 1 minute and a half. The slow anthemic part is absolutely incredible and hearing the lyrics and how it relates to the character just meshes so well.

IM A SHADOW ALWAYS...
WITH YOU

Votum - Time Must Have a Stop

Wow... this is one hell of a nostalgic trip (even weirder after just hearing their latest EP). And besides the mix, this album actually does hold up well. Still some of the darkest and gloomiest non-extreme prog metal that exists probably.

Thorns - Interface to God

Guaranteed to be the only black metal album to make my top 2000s list. Love the combination of choppy, technical riffs and creepy industrial atmosphere. Good god can we please get literally any more BM from Snorre??

The Dogma - Black Roses

This was really interesting to me aesthetically and musically back in the day, but I kind of fell off of it in later years, just discovered other stuff. But this is actually holding up. Nice gothy experiments, sweet heavy riffing. A lot of the songs seem to go along at the same tempo, but they do know how to write a satisfying hook.

EDIT: Forgot to mention what I was listening to! Paradise Lost - First Light

Haunting and emotionally evocative...I really wouldn't mind if the band did another album like this - I definitely don't see it happening, though!

Helloween - Out for the Glory

First time playing it with no ads and also when I'm not about to pass out from a head cold, so this should be better. I do like how much care and thought was put into this with all these band members - it's very cool as a longtime fan of these guys.

This is actually a pretty fucking cool song - just a speedy caffeine blast to open the whole thing.

Oh yes, it's an awesome album. Don't you think that the recent ones also fit that description, though? I love everything they made since Faith and especially Obsidian also very much hits that emotional nerve a lot.

Green Carnation - World Without a View

I don't know why I overlooked it before, it's at least as good as all of Leaves of Yesteryear. That main riff is MASSIVE.

Uriah Heep - Too Scared to Run

Love this song, and the whole album really. Driving metal/hard rock. Just ordered some more middle era UH on LP.

Iron Maiden - Infinite Dreams

Never get tired of this. One of their very best, only second to the title track on this album.

Helloween - Robot King

It's been too long since Helloween wrote an album filled with bangers, but the drought has finally been broken.

Well, what I find interesting about FDU-DUU is the kind of ''sophisticated'' guitar work that pops up in tracks such as ''Frailty'' and ''Living With Scars'' (especially this one) - I wouldn't mind a blend of that kind of style of riffing with the death metal vocals in the future.

Earthside - Mob Mentality

Known about this band for years, never actually listened to them until now. What amazing music.

Korsakov - Radiation Exposure

Death / Thrash from the Netherlands active in the early 90's. A lot better than a band with 3 demo tapes and no activity after 1992 would suggest (sans the 2015 compilation).

Aenigmatum - Forged From Bedlam

This has me super pumped for their new album, this is what it would sound like if The Chasm and StarGazer had a baby. 20 Buck Spin are killing it with the death metal releases as of late!
