Burzum - Key to the Gate

That was not what I was expecting. Some nice guitar in that cut.

The Patriot's main theme. I've been on a huge rush listening to soundtracks from Braveheart, Gladiator and the Patriot.

Moonblood - My Evil Soul

This demo is really raw and lo-fi but all Moonblood demos have that same characteristic.

Leviathan - Scar Sighted

I got this album years ago not long after it first came out, but somehow I never got fully absorbed into its world until I pulled it out for the first time in ages today. Had no problem living in its eerie ambience for an hour.

Slayer - Ghosts of War

The guitar tone on South of Heaven is a landmark in itself.

Raven - Bring the Hammer Down

The level of not-give-a-fuck with this album is admirable and dizzying. Just wild energy. The riffs are superb.

Oh, I see. Well, I've never doubted that, it's just that it hasn't clicked for me yet. I'll get accustomed to it in time, I guess.

Evildead - Holy Trails

Such an underrated Thrash album. Bay Area at its finest with some cool New York Thrash elements in it as well.

Burzum - Spell of Destruction

Its still cold! Actually this record sounds better than I would have thought. Drums sound like shit but the guitar tone is pretty good.

Exiled - The Blade of Death

I bought ''Fortune Teller'' a long time ago because the artwork was awesome, never heard about the band.

It's really cool rocking heavy/speed metal!

Agony Reigns - Death from Within

I may be biased about this band since they're local and I know the guys, but this EP they released today is epic.

You may be interested in Noktorn's review on this album. While he does definitely consider it a black metal album, he makes the case that it is a more experimental work of black metal compared to other stuff that was going on at the time, and that its experimental nature is overlooked. The kind of tremolo riffs are on the surface similar to the usual black metal style, but at the same time, just distinctly different in a way that is hard to put into words--dark, lilting, sometimes-waltzing in a distinctive way on several tracks.

My now playing: I'm not listening to any music at the moment, but I'm watching season 2 of The Toys That Made Us. Hope that counts :).

The riff style on that Mayhem album is one of my favorite kinds of extreme metal riffing - Melechesh do it a lot on Sphynx, though they'd become even more idiosyncratic on their next few albums. Inquisition were very good at it.

Usurper - Kill For Metal

Cryptobeast is legit fucking amazing. Didn't know how I'd feel about it with the change in vocalists but this is pure savagery, much more thrash/death. The trad metal riff-base is still there too, in a Deceased-ish way, that prevents this from feeling too clinical or different. Sharp as fuck writing and energy through the roof. This is awesome.

Moonspell - Em Nome Do Medo

Great track. A real earworm. It's also kinda funny to hear Fernando sing "Medo" because in my native language "medo" means "little bear".

Kamelot - Temples of Gold

I'd love another album on the level of "Karma" (or "The Fourth Legacy", "Epica", and "The Black Halo").

Holy shit, what a great song! Reminds me a lot of 'Martyr' from 'Sworn to a Great Divide', and I love that song.
