This track leans more towards their gothic rock influences than metal, and that's perfectly fine, because it's great. "Don't Waste Your Time II" is a nice little EP.

Had no idea they even put out a new EP

AH! Thanks for posting! Gonna check it out now.

Wisdom - Holy Vagabond

Where the hell did THIS come from? Why have I never heard anyone talking about this? It fuckin' rocks! Quit leaving me outta the loop, dammit!

Holy Vagabond is an amazing song but it's basically the only song from the debut I ever want to go back to. Judas and Marching for Liberty utterly blow that first one out of the water.

Cryonic Temple- Thunder and Lightning

Damn this song rips, their 2nd and 3rd albums are some killer stuff. Shame they fell downwards after those albums.

i like this track, but when i heard the intro my mind instantly started playing the guitar lead from Stormlord's Neon Karma over it

Blacksoul Seraphim - Bedlam Harvest

the vocal melody feels so Tom Waits, i love it!

DoomSword - The DoomSword

Resound the Horn is so goddamn good! I can't believe it. This song is some fucking grim doom metal.

The Evil That Men Do

Live at Donnington version, since I'm working my way through Maiden's live albums again. For all he was apparently bored with it by 1992 (and wanted to go off & make radio rock), Bruce doesn't sound fed up on this album at all. Not the best they've ever recorded live, but decent nonetheless.

Armageddon - Illusions Tale

The consonant, epic melodies - real big and bright - make this a real summery, quality album for driving or exercise. Yet it's also got that strange air of mystique.

Black Majesty - Journey's End

There's just something special about the vibrant epic quality of these early BM albums. The production is great, the writing is boundlessly creative - they just wing out 6 minute tunes like it's nothing. Gio's vocals are tremendous too.

Dearth - Autoasphyxia

To crown all befoulment is growing on me with each listen. What started as 'just' another good Blackened DM album is quickly finding it's place among the best of 2020.

Blood Incantation - The Giza Power Plant

Their signature wacky riffing in the first part of the song flows very well into the more atmospheric second half. The 90's Death influences are very apparent in this track, which definitely isn't a bad thing

Walpyrgus - Dead of Night

Parts of this just get stuck in my head at random now even after days of not playing it. God it's catchy.

Foreigner - Anthology: Jukebox Heroes (LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Britny Fox - Bite Down Hard (Like it. Is it too obvious for me to call these guys under-rated? I LOVE their first album).
Fastway - Waiting for the Roar (Great!)
Temple of Blood - Prepare for the judgement of Mankind (It's OK. Decent music, the vocals seem a little light for thrash).
Billy Idol - Charmed Life (I think I like this second best of all of his I've heard so far!)

My Parallel Minds CD showed up!

:np: Conception - And I Close My Eyes

Ostby and Khan are just perfect together. Aggressive guitars on this cut. Fuck yeah.

Gojira - 'The Cell'

Honestly, still not sure why fans here reacted not so positively to this one. Yeah, it's more of a melodic, melancholic and bitter album as opposed to a really angry and uniformly heavy one, but it's far from a drastic shift. Literally all of their strengths and most of their standard stylistic elements are present here, they're just applied to a different mood and with some clean singing now. It's not their strongest album but it stands up perfectly well compared to their last four albums on a quality level; and it's certainly better than their first two.

Heartbeats, time bombs!

Iron Maiden - These Colours Don't Run

One of the best on the album.

Thanks for checking it out.

Our album after that one is a lot better IMHO: https://templeofblood.bandcamp.com/albu ... remastered

We're trying to finish a new album this year. This will have the drummer for Morbid Angel and the ex-guitarist from Helstar on it. More aggressive and tech.

Conception - No Rewind

This still holds up... an addictive, twisting melodic construct. Just ultra-sharp writing and I like that they never drag anything out too long.

Beyond the Black - Wounded Healer

Elize Ryd would guest on a TV washing machine jingle, wouldn't she ? Honestly, the woman is eveeeerywhere. This one sounds like a modern Within Temptation song - nice big chorus, basic music, slight whiff of some guitar-istry.

Elize is such a great vocalist. I like Olof Morck's playing, and Morten Lowe Sorensen's as well when he was in the band, but I don't think I could listen to Amaranthe with just the other two vocalists or a subpar replacement.

Atlas Pain - Tales of a Pathfinder

Their debut album blindsided me with how brilliant it was. This second effort isn't quite creating the same sense of wonder; they now sound like an Italian Equlibrium (before the German band decided they didn't want to make great music anymore) which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But a) it's nothing new and b) I can't help but feel the majority of the tracks would be better without the harsh vocals. I like harsh vocals normally, they're just in the way here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bvxSCxGmYk

EDIT: Scratch that, the second half of the album is FANTASTIC!

Chapel of Disease - ...And As We Have Seen The Storm, We Have Embraced The Eye

An eclectic mixture of old school death metal, traditional heavy metal, prog, and classic rock(!) that works incredibly well without sounding gimmicky. The riffing actually has an Arghoslent vibe to it, but with much more focused songwriting to back it up(and without the racism, of course)

Martwa Aura/Odour of Death - Credo in Mortem

Often slow and very riffy black metal with a very gloomy feel. This stuff goes hard.

Type O Negative - Pyretta Blaze

I always get the chorus to this one stuck in my head. Very catchy, nice bluesy Sabbath-style riffs. Just straight up one of their best songs.

This is up there with Kamelot songs like "Rule the World" and "When the Lights Are Down" for me. Probably my favorite song on "State of Deception"!

It wouldn't be my pick for best on there - I like "The Mansion" and "She Dragoon" a lot. And "By the Blues" is a monster of a track. But it's all good.

Watching this new Jim Jefferies special that just came on Netflix seemingly at random...

Soundgarden - Let Me Drown

They're killer, but it would've been fun to get an album mostly focused around these types of short, pugilistic rockers with the band's sound on this one.

Alice In Chains - Frogs

The nasty, rotten dirges that Jerry Cantrell conjures with his guitar on this track always gives me goosebumps. The ominous atmosphere is enhanced even further by Layne's gloomy wails. Definitely captures the mental state that the entire band was in at the time.

Yeah, this album's great. Why haven't I heard it until now, I wonder...?

Apparently I still haven't talked about them quite enough, lol. That was my #2 album of the decade. There seems to be a divide with some people preferring their mid-00s sound though.

Deep Purple - Pictures of Home

2015 was a horrible year for me, but discovering both this and The White Stripes' Elephant, which are now among my favorite albums ever, was indescribably influential to where my music tastes have gone since.

Jag Panzer - Faces Of Fear

For one reason or another, this band just doesn't click for me. I've tried so many times. I've had this album on all night and my attention keeps drifting.

Was this considered to be the first death metal "duet?" (Backing shouts/grunts don't count)

Now playing nothing, because my stereos went dead. Luckily I did foresee this, and bought new ones some days ago.

Tristania - "Opus Relinque"

Given Vibeke's upcoming project, it's a great time to refresh this classic. This has one of my favorite sounding China cymbals. There is a real violin present at times, but at others some of the strings are obviously programmed and fake-sounding, which is a shame. The choirs sound great though.
