Hibria - A Kingdom to Share

I always come back to this eventually. Pretty much a classic now. The songwriting is just so tight and complex and yet entertaining.

Rush - The Necormancer

So 70's. I should be driving a conversion van with a huge decal of a viking warrior on the side while listening to this on 8 track.

Forbidden - Omega Wave

Nice reunion album. A definite step up in quality from their two previous albums.

Black Fate - Commander of the Fate, which is some really good German NWOBHM style.

Carpathian Forest - We're Going to Hell for This - Over a Decade of Perversions

Some of the most catchy (for want of a better term), fun black metal ever. I love jamming to these guys.

Exhorder - "Death in Vain"

These guys should've staged a comeback when Pantera disbanded.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Fire and Ice

Cool album. The only one I've really listened from him in a long time. The title-track always keeps me coming back.

Epoch of Unlight - The Continuum Hypothesis (2005)

First time listening to this US melo black/death outfit. Not surprisingly it's aged and a bit clunky (part of the charm?) but definitely has some great songs like The End of All that have held up really well.

Voivod - Chaosmongers

One of the most unique metal albums and bands out there. Hard to even pick a standout when every track just blazes through the speakers.

Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum

A actually have no words for this album. It's such an indecipherable freight train of eerie music.

Tyranny - Upon The War Town Shape Of Cold Earth

By far the most terrifying rendition of HP Lovecraft I ever heard. It is like the monster is right there ready to consume you!

Anthrax and Slayer always put on a killer show. Though i must say that Joey is a much stronger frontman vocally. His energy is pretty good for a guy his age. Tom looks really tired and his vocals have declined much in recent years. Still a legend but i think he's almost done with music.

:np: Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys II

I remember going to Tower Records and buying it after i saw the video for I Want Out on the Headbanger's Ball. Good album topped with a big handful of cheese but i still love it.

Well they are claiming they are calling it a day after this tour, which is why I'm seeing them again. I know Tom's neck surgery limited his ability to move on stage so he's not having the fun he used to. But Slayer with Napalm Death, Anthrax, Testament, & Lamb of God is a show I'll be at.

Judas Priest- Never The Heroes

I found this one a little boring on first listen, but I like it more the second time around.

Speaking of Anthrax, i blasted For All Kings again on my way home and man what a great fucking record it is. They've got the melodic thrash sound on lock and i hope they stick to it.

Pink Floyd - The Dogs of War

We all have a dark side, to say the least
And dealing in death is the nature of the beast

Amon Amarth - The Last with Pagan Blood

Definitely one of their best. Sonically it's almost a perfect fit for their style. Killer guitar tone.

That chorus riff! I usually use that song as an argument against their detractors :)

Sacramentum - Blood Shall Be Spilled

Speaking of monstrous tremolo riffs

Anacrusis - "Imprisoned"

The most musically aggressive among the several albums that Anacrusis released throughout their career. This is energetic thrash that sounds so unique and separate from the bands of that era.

Hydrophobia - "Internal Torture"

There was an influx of Japanese death metal bands who played in the Philippines around 10 years ago. This ushered in a golden era for local gigs when there were no foreign bands who would visit our country to play gigs. One of the first bands to play here was Hydrophobia who supported the more well-known Defiled. Not expecting much from the band, the audience were completely floored by the intensity of the band's performance. I was able to get a copy of their one and only album and they are as intense on this record as they were live.

Seasons of the Wolf - Be Careful What You Wish

Nice crunchy riffs and punk-ish vocals from guitarist Skully - kick ass long-winded tune.
