Solstice - To Sol a Thane

This and the new Seasons of the Wolf show what heavy metal can be as great art. The riffs, song construction, etc are beautifully done.

Helloween - Murderer

This ep is completely nuts. If you don't feel the need to move to those riffs you must be dead or worse!

Daylight Dies - Strive To See

This band has made some of the most beautiful melodic death/doom metal I have seen so far!

Black metal magic. Perfect, seamless blend of merging the old with the new creating something truly special.

Running Wild- Marching To Die

Man what a difference a few years in developing one's voice makes. Not to say he sounds awful on these first couple of albums, but on Blazon Stone the vocals alone carries the entire thing.

Can anyone tell me on which Running Wild album Rolf started to sound like he does on Blazon Stone?

Port Royal technically, Death or Glory fully. He was still a bit gruff on PR but it's a noticable shift up in register from Under Jolly Roger, but once Death or Glory hit he pretty much set the voice he'd stick with for the rest of his career.

Moby - Heaven

Not really my favourite of his, but given the fact that it's derived from the album called Ambient, it sure provides some good background music, especially in the midst of making a presentation for school :nods:

Casualties of Cool - Daddy

And I thought every kind of country was annoying. Dev changed my opinion a bit. Really enjoyable.

Falls of Rauros - "The Fire we Fathered"

Great stuff. I haven't yet delved much into this band beyond this album.
Reminds me of Pale Folklore, but with "chunkier/crunchier" riffs.

"No Stars Upon the Bridge" is the sound of pure grief and heartbreak. I'll never be over it.

Skid Row - Beat Yourself Blind

I think the Subhuman Race album is the perfect blend of groove metal, hard rock and grunge.

...For a band this far in their career, this sounds surprisingly convincing. Perhaps I should give the entire album a chance.

Schammash - Triangle
Ordered it on a whim, and it arrived today.
My first time hearing the band. Three discs at 33 minutes each is a bit of a novelty. I'm still on the first disc and so far I'm quite keen on it. Lyrics are interesting too.

That one definitely has the most old school 80s riff on there.

Black Majesty - Silent Company

Goddamn this smokes. They ruled back then - sweet riffs and tremendous vocals.

Eternal Champion - The Armor of Ire

I can't get over how good this album is. It feels like i'm a little kid reading Conan stories for the first time, everytime i put this gem on. The imagination just goes wild to this epic metal masterpiece.
