Havok- Time is Up.

I haven't listened to any of their stuff in like 2 years, and this is their only album I remember really liking. It's pretty ok so far.

Agalloch - Not Unlike the Waves

Nice killer riff. I love how coherent the whole song is, it cycles through the themes without doing anything completely different, yet it doesn't get boring or stale. Typical Agalloch songwriting.

Iron Maiden - Killers

That song is peak early days Iron Maiden. Di'Anno's vocals are so savage and epic at the same time.

Visigoth - Traitor's Gate

Visigoth's "Conqueror's Oath" is shaping up to be an early contender for my album of the year

Jack White - Boarding House Reach

So fucking good. Weird and wild and full of crazy guitar histrionics and thumping rock grooves.

Halford - Wrath Of God

Crucible gets so much flak. Perhaps the album is too long as a whole, it definitely has filler tracks. But it has some really killer songs. This is one of them.

I also thought Crucible was pretty good. Wrath of God didn't really do much for me though.

Bathory - Prelude/Nordland

Fuck, the Prelude track is making me emotional. Hearing Quorthon's voice chanting over that synth music that sound like a movie soundtrack.
The Nordland track is also nostalgic for me, I remember listening to it in the car with my dad some 10 years ago now.

Queen - Ogre Battle

That is some pretty heavy riffing. What I love about so much 70's rock is its all over the place. Straight up verse-chorus rock songs mixed in with stuff that is prog and then a sappy ballad on the same record. Queen, Sabbath, Zep, Bowie, etc. This was released less than a year after I was born. I think I was born too late.

Grand Magus - "Chooser of the Slain"

Monument is largely a mood record for me, but I'm always in the mood for this song. Totally nailed what they were going for here.

Awesome main riff and even more awesome vocals from Robert Lowe. This is one of the highlights of 'King of the Grey Islands'.

Still no sign of spring here though :P

Deftones - Elite

Man Chino's screams are so unorthodox. They're sloppy, probably a nightmare from a technical/sustainability standpoint, but fuck do I love them.

Mahr - Antelux

Sublimely metallic, haunting and cold - truly piercing and uncomfortable in places, but serenely and absorbingly so. I've been working my way through the free stuff on the Fallen Empire Records bandcamp page, and Mahr's newest album is a very strong standout so far, alongside Misþyrming and Jassa. Seems to be a goldmine of dense black-metal to see me through the cant-afford-to-buy-music drought.

Anthrax - Madhouse

Everyone's heard it and everyone has an opinion on it. But it kinda follows from when fellow user PvtNinjer and I were talking about how embarrassing it is when you allow popular opinion and chasing the latest releases and bands dictate what you listen to... so I decided to make my 14 year old self happy and go back to the releases that I loved when I was younger.

Spoiler alert: some suck but many still fucking rip.

Daylight Dies - A Dream Resigned

All right, so I don't think Dismantling Devotion is quite mind-blowing enough to justify its 98% score here. It's still quite good though. The Candlelight Years 3 album set is one of the best purchases I've made in a while.

Devin Townsend Band - Accelerated Evolution

This record is about to turn FIFTEEN YEARS OLD in a couple days. It's the album that introduced me to the genius. I had obviously heard his name many times, but when this record was released in March 2003, I finally decided to check him out. I downloaded a couple tracks and immediately ordered the album. Crazy, cheesy part of the story; my girlfriend at the time and I had started dating in May 2003. The song Slow Me Down became kind of one of our songs. We met Devin in 2006 and told him that, and he thought it was really endearing. We've now been together for 15 years (married, now.) This album holds a lot of memories over the last 15 years.

This track kills. In fact, this whole album kills. One of my most listened records of the last few years: all hail Hell, and all hail Dave Halliday!

Inquisition - Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult

I just love this whole album, not one bad track. Despite the recent news including Dagon, lets be honest, he is not the only one, i wont even talk about Michael Jackson, he even touched kids but he is still a pop icon, the greatest ever. This kind of crime should be punished accordingly, its a sickness. Music on and the band on other hand are still to be respected and listened to, this is art.

If this didnt come people would still listen to Inquisition not having any idea about what he has done. You get my point here. So just because you know what he did in his life outside of art should not affect the art itself.

Thaurorod - Power

Finally getting around to listening to some music I've scooped up recently. This has a damn good hook, and I'm hoping there's more to come.

I'm 100% confident the new Mary's Blood will knock the pants off of it...but aside from that, yeah, this is pretty goddamn excellent so far.
