Today's spins have been

Motorhead - Rock 'n' Roll - A slab of smoking hard rock from the 4 piece incarnation of the band. Middling Motorhead, which means its good. (70%)

Smashing Pumpkins - Machina - Front heavy but some good songs all though it. Almost downtuned too much though. (75%)

Warrant - Dog Eat Dog - A great farewell. Their best and heaviest album. (85%)

Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone

I sure do like those later albums better than the first three although Goat of Mendes is a classic. The last one was a disaster for sure so… I guess what I want to say is retirement is available for everyone.

Deathspell Omega - The Furnaces of Palingenesia

DSO never made a good album? Yeah, right.

Alice In Chains Omonimo

An album anti commercial and hard to digest but their apex

Blind Illusion - The Sane Asylum

An absolute classic in the prog/tech thrash genre. Too bad everything they released after the reunion was a dumpster fire.

Molested blod draun

This is a great album I like how it's still got great riffs that just happen to kinda move backwards it's got that metal spirit

Old Mother Hell - Lord of Demise

Ultra heavy doomy trad metal - can't wait to hear more. This singer is a fucking beast and they know how to hit you with the Big Riffs.

Glacier - The Passing of Time

Going back to some of the stuff from late 2020 - not a good time for me, so need to get reacquainted with some of this. This is a tremendously strong shot of pure energy.

Cirith Ungol - Legions Arise

Gone back and forth on this album a few times - it's really just a cool back to basics album. Completely unpretentious. They just thug out some great old school metal.

Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance Reimagined

One of the few landmark albums that crossed me over into harder music. I can't believe they redid this, it sounds fkin amazing.

Scorpions - Rock Believer

How do you make an already great album even greater? Easy, you add 5 genuinely cool original songs and a rather good acoustic version of When You Know to it!
Shoot for Your Heart and Out Go The Lights (wicked exclusive track for the Japanese ver) are fuckin cool straight up kick ass heavy rockers. When Tomorrow Comes and Unleash the Beast bring some of that great Scorpions creativity that reminds me of those great 70's albums like In Trance, while Crossing Borders has this awesome laid-back swagger to it that just plain rocks.
I never would've thought Scorpions would release such great collection of songs as this so late in their career.
Get the Japanese version, it's totally worth the extra coin (I actually found it at a good price).

Rock Believer? You bet I am!

Messa - Belfry
Found this by leaving autoplay on YouTube and I'm in love, it's great doom metal, with a little bit of a classic stoner vibe and a few atmospheric touches here and there.

As musicians, they can probably do whatever they want. Still they put good songs first - at least on this album. And it doesn't get old fast, always something new to admire. My sorrow is that I don't own anything else by them yet.

GO BUY "FLY BY NIGHT" & "MOVING PICTURES" RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reminder. Ordered: A farewell to Kings, Caress of Steel, Fly by Night & Permanent Waves. So cheap CDs it was impossible to resist!

Cool! Yeah, most of their stuff should be pretty available and affordable, used-CD wise.

Haven't listened to Fly by Night yet. Everything else I've enjoyed.

Last night:

Genesis - Nursery Cryme

Today:

Brocas Helm - Into Battle
Brocas Helm - Black Death

I take my words back that Into Battle has better production than Black Death. They're actually quite even. Doesn't prevent me from worshipping these songs. This band is eternal!

Demontage - The Principal Extinction

Support your local scene...I guess. To me, this is pretty unconventional heavy metal and I'm digging it so far. This is a riffs for days kind of album and you got those sometimes angry but definitely cartoonish vocals that are perfectly fitting for the type of music at hand. Love it!

I listened to the 2003 self titled voivod for the first time earlier today and I didn't expect it to be that fucking good,I swear the more I hear from them I just find them to be such a good talented band.

I'm currently exploring timeghoul cuz I somehow never got into them, so far I like that it's weird, but it's still got that super heavy downtuned classic death metal sound, it's still a lot to piece together but I like it thus far, it's interesting

Bloodbath - Grand Morbid Funeral

It's not Nightmares Made Flesh, but it's still a nice slab of Swedeath

Christian Mistress - Agony & Opium

Nice and raw like a lot of this style's best... definitely interesting. Some cool guitars.

Close to the first two albums in quality, but not quite there. Someone has been probably listening to Bathory.

Soulmass - Let Us Prey

I feel the production makes it sound more artificial than it should, but overall it's very good work.

Judas Priest - Metal Gods (live, Battle Cry)

British Steel was one of my gateway albums to metal and my gateway to JP. Metal Gods was one of the standout tracks that I immediately liked from this album.

I mean likes them the way someone likes Storm of the lights bane or Arise or what not? Its maybe fun while being high and playing some shitty ego shooter but... nevermind.

White Zombie - Super-Charger Heaven

This is fun, groove/industrial metal from the mid-90s when White Zombie broke through the mainstream.
