Teitanblood - Seven Chalices of Vomit and Blood

Grinding, dirty, and crushing death/black. Like Incantation or Disma splashed with a touch of modern black metal aesthetics. A winner, for sure.

I like it. I need to listen to it again but it's definitely above average. Generally a BM feel with a bit of Death and some Black-and-roll sound at times. I found it at my local shop so I just grabbed it on a whim but I'm glad I did.

I have been thinking about the Teitanblood too. I haven't heard anything from it but I've heard good comments from people who have.

Is this album as good as Dämmerung der Szenarien or I shouldn't bother with it?

I'm still undecided. The style is the same, but I think what it lacks are some memorable riffs like in "Der Dolch Im Gewande" and it's maybe a bit more generic and less atmospherically complex than Dämmerung. I also liked the muffled sound on Dämmerung better. That's not my final answer though, I need to give it some more listens.

Theocracy - All I Want for Christmas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIgoOP3qUhE

Fortunately, it's not a cover of the carol of the same name. It's still a little silly, but I like it.

@oogboog: The production is really quite excellent, I wouldn't let YouTube give you any false impressions.

Really the only song I like from them, but man is it awesome.

Overkill - The Years of Decay (album)
It's been awhile since I've listened to this and damn, it's kicking my ass pretty hard. Definitely understand all the praise surrounding it, especially considering the fact there's only about four or five primarily thrash acts I can usually get into.

What? I AM talking about the technical thrash band Realm. 'Eminence' is a song off 'Endless War'. ^_^

Also, oogboog, the production sounds fine on my CD. It's a pretty ripping album, I must say!

Anyway, now playing:

Helloween - King for 1000 Years

With strokes of brilliant songwriting they turn cheesy and over the top catchiness into something resembling art.

Sebastian Bach's Kicking and Screaming is a cool album? The recent review made me want to check it out. So far it seems pretty solid. I'd be all over a consistent metal band with him on vocals (he killed back in the day, of course). The album artwork needs major improvement though. One of the reasons why I was put of to it, truly terrible.

Wow, now here's an album I haven't heard in a little while! I like Realm and I really should dig their albums out again and give them a listen. Very competent thrash.

Thiestru wrote:

Speaking of competent thrash, Sodom always deliver on that front. Tapping the Vein is a fantastic album.

Fractal Point - The Bizarre Machinery of Universe

Very awesome death metal album with unique lyrics for the genre. Most of the music is fairly straightforward death metal, especially with the drumming, but it works. The band is now on hold, which is a shame, but this album is great. If you're a fan of death metal and you find this album anywhere, pick it up! Well worth it.

Gorguts - Elusive Treasures

Fast becoming one of my favourite death metal bands.
This is my first time listening to From Wisdom to Hate and I'm liking that they didn't throw away
the experimental aspect they started with Obscura, it's clearly not as chaotic but it's still there.

Listening to the new Car Bomb on a whim. Sounds pretty good. It's heavier and bottom-oriented than most mathcore (from what I've heard at least).
