Sleater Kinney - Worry With You

This is so goddamn refreshing; what a killer chorus and main motif.

Weezer - Blue Album

This album is always a fun listen. Classic alternative rock/power pop/early emo/whatever you'd call it

Good pick that and Pinkerton are two of my love affairs when it comes to music in general, especially blue

Incantation - Onward to FUCKING GOLGOTHA

top 10 of all time shit here, there is no debating, just a fucking brilliant God damn album, and John Mcentee is a brilliant riff writer, I'm eternally jealous I dont have anywhere near the mastery of the guitar as he did when he wrote this shit

Thrice - Paper Tigers

I still love "The Artist in the Ambulance" to this day.
One of the best post-hardcore albums of its era, really - great musicianship and some truly heavy moments.

Metallica - The Outlaw Torn

Without a doubt the best Metallica song between The Black Album and Death Magnetic. An epic, doomy masterpiece, and I wish Load and ReLoad were more like this instead.

Barry White - Best of

I didn't remember how infectious his music actually is. Really cool stuff.

Chainsword - Stalingrad

Loving this album. Much, much better than the artwork would let on. Great fun that their bandcamp page says 'BOLT THROWER' in amongst the other tags, too :D

Elton John - Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player (as with Yellow Brick Road, this is great!)
Destructor - Maximum Destruction (SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED METAL!!! Cool!)
Phoenix Reign - Destination Unknown (great, esp. the singing. If you buy one, buy it from somewhere besides their website, though, no one was minding the store when I tried to buy it there. I found this one on amazon).

YES!

Dream Theater - In the Name of God

This solo section is just....I mean, I complain a bit about their instrumental sections taking forever to make a strong musical statement but this is just WOW

Slayer - Reign in Blood

This album is tense as a taut wire, and wildly uncomfortable compared to others like it. Any kind of familiarity bled out. Just pure rage and darkness. I can't imagine what it was like hearing this as it came out.

Peter Green - Proud Pinto

Sometimes, on a sunny day, what you need is some 70s blues rock. Happily, there's Peter Green (yes, of Green Manalishi fame). Great guitar work, that kind of 70s low-key approach in places that conveys more in half a dozen notes than a symphonic metal band with fifteen choirs could manage in a whole album.

This new Pharaoh track bites but what else is new. Looking forward to the full album.

black dresses - BLOOM

This just surrounds me in perfect tragic beauty. The definition for me for what Nick Cave called a "hiding song".

Gojira - From the Sky

Ah yes, the days when Gojira were both 1. Good, and 2. Making legendary music with each new album.

Dalriada-Védj Meg, Láng! - 1. rész

I will always love Dalriada, but sometimes I wish they can decrease the amount of fiddles and violins and increase the keys.

Classic Aussie Black Meta, with Steve Hughes on the drums!

Planet Satan - Mysticum

This is really aggressive and electrifying shit, far better than most industrial black nowadays.

Nightwish - Know Why The Nightingale Sings

If this was slowed down, it could be on any 90s gothic metal album. Played at the tempo it is, it's a perfect mid-paced symhpo-metal song, complete with a couple of decent solos. Always forget that Nightwish used to have decent solos.

Yeah I can see it. It's all very warped.

Dark Moor - Silver Lake

Felt like something big and melodious to wake up on a dreary ass morning.

Gojira - Another World

I'm still trying to figure out whether I like this or not. That main melody is pretty swell, the structure is...simple. Not too sure about the vocals either.

Tried some songs from their older days but wasn't all that impressed either. Maybe just not for me, except for a few selected tracks?

Sabaton- The Great War

Yeah I'm not getting these guys. I don't think I ever will. Every song is the same. The lyrics are juvenile; I'd expect something a little bit more serious considering it's WW1, but whatever. It's so dull.
Great war
And I cannot take more
Great tour
I keep on marching on
I play the great score
There will be no encore
Great War
The war to end all wars

Like. Come on.

Green Carnation - Journey to the End of the Night

Somehow only my first listen. This album is... hard to describe, but the atmosphere is much like I expected knowing the story behind it. It's dark and haunting but warm in a way. They've changed so much since, but it's really ambitious for a debut and Tchort's riffing is just unmistakable.

Can't think of much to say, if you've managed to avoid hearing this one, go hear it.

There's an Amaranthe cover of "82nd all the way" off that album which works a lot better

Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance (the song)

I learned that Screaming... is the best Priest album of the eighties. So consistent, no weak spot here. It's not my total favourite from their discography, but it's the one I've kept coming back the most lately.

Boris - 枯れ果てた先 -Ka Re Ha Te Ta Sa Ki – No Ones Grieve- from their Live at Wolf Creek album. I gobble up anything Boris, and they've been releasing a live album almost every month since COVID shut down touring. This was a reissue from 2008, but I never had a copy of it before they put it up on Bandcamp. I did get to see them when they were touring this, and out of the half dozen times I've seen them live, it was my favorite show. The recording of it holds up huge.

Unleash the Archers - Abyss

This absolutely hasn't lost its luster for me. Still fun as hell, still my favorite power metal album of last year.
I hope for another album from them soon.

Blood Incantation - Starspawn

I can't decide whether I prefer this or Hidden History of the Human Race. Dark, cosmic death metal, and I love the early 90's tech-death influence in the riffing.

Sleater Kinney - Funeral Song

This whole album is heavy and loud as fuck; a real sledgehammer. Just blunt as fuck riffs and brash rock attitude.

Crazy creative riffing and song writing with a vocalist who has King Diamond aspirations. Cool album. Not Satan cool tho.

Alright I take back what I said. This song makes up for the album. What a gem.
