Sinister- Cross the Styx.

One of the best death metal albums...ever. The riffs, atmosphere, vocals...it all comes together in a way Sinister would never reach again sadly.

Candlemass - Ancient Dreams

There's something I just don't like about this. Not in the level of the past two. But hey, I tried.

Judas Iscariot - Thy Dying Light

Returning to this after some years. The drumming... is part of the charm.

Nasum - Slaves to the Grind

I normally don't listen to grindcore except for Napalm Death very occasionally but decided to check more of the genre. This is ok, tbh. Been listening to the entire album. I don't think grind is that aggressive and unpleasant sounding as I used to think. It still has a sense of melody to it, even if many people find that hard to believe. Plus the songs are rather short, so you don't get burnt out after each song.

Best thrash album of the decade? Strong contender without a doubt. I can't think of any competition.

The songs "Poltergeist" and "The Infected" alone raise it to that level of potential alone. :np:

That's their worst album, get pretty much any of the others really, I say.

Alice In Chains - Fly

Great tune even though it's in a familiar formula.

Crisis - The Hollowing

Karyn Crisis is one of the most obscenely talented vocalists in extreme music, but I feel she never had a band behind her to do her gift justice. The Hollowing is more accessible than their other material, but that doesn't mean it's good.

I've got Traveller, Down, Twilight, Hardworlder, and Digital along with this one. For me Traveller by far is the best.

Ah just making sure then.

Chastain - The King Has The Power

This is such a masterwork of bravado and arrogance. Great guitars and howling vocal theatrics.

re: Slough Feg: Atavism is kind of underrated but at the same time kind of rated perfectly. It's the sole misstep during the glory years between Twilight and Hardworlder, and it is undeniably underdeveloped, but at the same time "Atavism II" is one of my all time favorite Slough Feg songs, and there are at least four or five other absolute bangers on there that shouldn't be overlooked. Definitely a flawed album but no way is it worse than Digital Resistance or Ape Uprising.

Well "worst" is relative since, yeah, there are a few really good songs on there for sure. But Ape Uprising is slightly more solid to me, if still not one of their best, and Digital Resistance has a bunch of their best songs since their really early albums (pretty much everything except for Curriculum Vitae, the Vincent Price one and the final song is still all fucking great to me), so yeah I'd still say Atavism is the worst one in spite of how good "Hiberno Latin Invasion" is.

Septagon - Apocalyptic Rhymes

This is giving me bad flashbacks to that Havok album from last year, although at least the songwriting on this album is better.

Ihsahn - Das Seelenbrechen

You can say you either like or dislike this album, but one thing you cannot deny - that it's really interesting. It takes a while for it to grow on you, especially the second half of the disc, but it's worth it. Good ol' Ihsahn, the guy is a genius.

This is not the Nile record to start with I think. Not bad, but not a fan of the thin tone.

Harakiri For the Sky Aokigahara
Haven't heard their Debut, but of their last three, this is my fave. Real Rock-y and melodic.
I've developed a desire to hear them Live. Gee, I've always wanted to see Vienna.

Bob Dylan - Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts

This is a damn epic folk track. Lot of gravitas and some great melody going on.
