The Kills - Ash & Ice

Love this kind of retro stuff mixed in with modern pop touches. Groovy and some quite heavy songs. I should try their older albums.

Bad Religion - The Grey Race

A very catchy album. Beautiful punk rock music.

I love how I can neglect this thread for weeks but every time I check back in, I can count on Stenhammar rocking the greatest band of all time. The Grey Race is very overlooked in my opinion. The second half is on par with everything from their classic era and Cease is genuinely one of their all time best.

For myself lately it's been:

Propagandhi - Supporting Caste
Honestly this band in general has been so reassuring for me lately because all of my harder and more aggressive political stances have felt like revelations I've only come across in the last few years, and these guys have been saying all of these things for decades. Dear Coach's Corner hits me in a genuinely emotional place because it so perfectly mirrors my own disillusionment that caused me to fall out of love with sports over the years.

Antiquus - Eleutheria

These kinds of chunky, quirky riff patterns are like heroin to me. The bizarre vocal theatrics are icing on the cake. But they're great songwriters before anything else. They string together genuine cool, well done epics all over this thing.

Nice and frosty meloblack. I'm glad this is getting reissued.

"The Fourth Legacy", "Karma", "Epica" and "The Black Halo" are all perfect and they managed to make four of the best power metal albums ever in a row. They'll never be able to top that era again.

Iron Maiden - Deja Vu

Why is this track hardly ever talked about when it comes to great Maiden songs? It rips.

I'm in an amazing music discovery period right now! I had been trying to catch up with new music for a while, but I eventually started working my way backward into black metal to re-listen to the classics and dig around for a few ones I had not really listened to before. So I enjoyed some of the material of Bathory I had not listened to all that much before. I specifically spent more time on Under the Sign of the Black Mark since I had listened to the s/t and Blood Fire Death a lot before. I started listening to Sarcofago two,

But the genre I'm really having a blast with right now is death metal. It's been my favorite sub-genre for a while now, and after discovering the band Blood Incancation and digging around back to a big influence of theirs named Timeghoul, I popped out my favorit OSDM classics with Gorguts, Possessed, Death and the likes, but I started listening to some more stuff. I had actually never listened to Sepultura all that much, and I finally got around to listening to their first 4 records, but Beneath the Remains is the one that stuck. Oh boy is that a solid fucking death/thrash album! I actually bought a patch of the album cover for my new battle jacket.

I also started listening to a few other OSDM bands, giving a few spins to some of the old Entombed albums and the album The Key by Nocturnus. This last one is a quite fascinating album. If you've never listened to it, I strongly recommand you do. Sci-fi themed OSDM albums are pretty rare, and this one is a very unique beast.

And last but not least, I've been really getting into Pestilence this last week. I love their album Consuming Impulse, of course, but their debut Malleus Maleficarum is quite solid two, and I really really really enjoy their 1991 album Testimony of the Ancients.

Now I have to get into Malevolent Creation's early 90's catalog. And maybe I'll work my way through their 2000's stuff eventually as I go.

Anyone else discovering some new music and having a blast right now?

I can't stop playing this song. Might be my favorite power metal song of all time at this point.

^I like the vocals on that one. Really harsh compared to the (relatively speaking) softer music.

Mortiis - En mørk horisont part 3

I always return to this one. Very moody and reflective synth music. I didn't care much for the 2020 re-recording. This version is much simpler and subtle.

Same here, really like the vocals.

Mortiis is super, I have not heard the new version yet.

Graveland - Iron in the Fog

Saxon - Crusader

One of their greatest songs ever. The atmospheric build and soloing really elevates this marching ode to zealotry.

A completely different song than the fantastic one on the demo. Huge disappointment.

If you claim Rush is the greatest band of all time I won’t argue.

Is there a record for most consecutive posts?
