Blasphemy - Fallen Angel of Doom....

One would think, that a wimpy metalhead like me would only listen to Maiden. But this is my kind of shit too. Goes there with Beherit, old Bathory and Hellhammer. Conqueror is too chaotic.

Atlantean Kodex - Heresiarch

Can't wait to see if their new one comes out this year - with six years it ought to be easily as good as or better than The White Goddess. TWG is still one of the sharpest, most meticulous albums I know in metal. Still holds up spectacularly.

Veldes - Keeper Of The Flameless

Specifically checked this out because the dude is from Bled, Slovenia (a place I visited in 2017 and absolutely fell in love with). So far, this is a really nice piece of black metal, with some post-black metal influences.

Katatonia - Night Comes Down

Perfectly executed Judas' cover in modern katatonish way!

Fast and catchy BM!

Knocks PluviaSomniums out.

NP: Amorphis - Pilgrimage from Darkness

That spoken verse in the middle with those cryptic leads in the background has to be of the most evil things I've ever heard - fucking cavernous, doom-y stuff. Funny how this band would quickly turn into a lame proggy band with terrible clean vocals.

Hm, slower, and more bleak.
And well it creates a totally different atmosphere then Ahab.

Golden Dawm - Midgard - The forsaken Kingdom Part I - VI

Very enjoyable melodic synthy BM from the 90's, quite raw sounding.

Royal Trux - Twin Infinitives

I stopped this album after the second song because it made me physically uncomfortable, so I turned on Naglfar - Vittra instead to compensate the absolute discordance and lack of any melody on the RT album.

Excommunicated - Skeleton Key

Rad blend of black/death/crossover. Dig the lyrical concept on this album.

Guns N Roses - Rocket Queen

With all the underground music out there I should be digging into, this is like aural crack cocaine for me right now.

Woods of Ypres - December in Windsor

This was such a great band, and it astounds me that they were the target of such vituperation as I've seen on this site.

Manowar - Ride the Dragon

This one smokes. I love that Eric Adams stereo effect.

Why not get Schenkle back to finish this final tour though? He rips and I doubt he would have a lot of trouble getting down the material from the 3 albums after Triumph. Oh well Manowar does what Manowar does. Maybe he sucks these days and is fat and false.

I agree, they're pretty underrated around here it seems. Their last two albums are truly excellent.

Six Feet Under - "The Enemy Inside"

wow this is groovy. Obituary comparisons are apt, but holy fuck this sounds almost exactly like Bolt Thrower as well. A lot more stupid-sounding and less graceful, but those danceable tremolo riffs are instantly recognizable. Pretty cool stuff. GED death metal forever.

Spiritus Mortis - Death Bride

Should have bought The God Behind the God in the Year One already. Their first and last albums are darn good, but this is their best work, based on a couple of listens.

Psychotic Waltz - Tiny Streams

This is a tremendous, bizarre and wonderful piece of metal. Like Sabbath or Priest through a kaleidoscope while high.

Beast in Black - Die by the Blade

I like this better than the first single for the new album (though I enjoyed that one too honestly). Dig those cheesy 80s synths.

Symphonic pop-metal at its finest, really. They've been on their A game since "The Human Contradiction", and I'm excited for this new EP!

Man those vocals, once Vortex gets going and we get the lead guitar playing that melody... pure magic.

Sepultura- Desparate Cry

I've been on a Morrisound shuffle in an attempt to study the criticism from the black metal community that all the records recorded there sounded exactly the same.

Thus far, I'm not really hearing it. At the very least each band had different guitar sounds.

Lacuna Coil - Circle

The first couple Lacuna Coil albums are hidden gems of doomy gothic metal beauty. Highly recommended for anyone who only knows them from Karmacode on.

KLV - Valkeus

"Progressive gothic doom punk rock"? Needs more spins. Cool flutes, lyrics and everything.
