Mörkhimmel - Zima

Pretty solid crust/thrash metal from Prague. First time hearing but I'll most definitely return for more.

Amorphis - Skyforger

Got all the new Amorphis albums apart from the latest, I think. Maybe a good time to get familiar with them. Well, I've played this one before, and it rules.

Blood Incantation - Starspawn

I'm only a few minutes in and this already sounds like exactly the kind of DM I like. Sweet heavy attack and eerie melody sense.

Their latest is the best since _Elegy_ IMHO.

Nokturnal Mortum - Unholy Orathania

My favorite NM song!

The melody in the beginning is so EPIC!
This can pop into my head at random times.

King Diamond - Conspiracy

The story on this one's pretty dull but the music is first rate - fucking killer 80s style galloping and lead-work and you can tell he had found "his sound."

Cradle of Filth - Saffron's Curse

"Midian" is probably a very close second to "Dusk" for me, as far as the classic COF albums are concerned.

Nightwish - _Imaginaerum_

I think this is one of the better albums in their discography, and I like Anette Olzon's work with them just fine. (But her Dark Element album is better.)

Morbid Saint - Beyond the Gates of Hell

Here's a perfect specimen of classic brutal thrash. :metal:

One more album to get then. Well, I got stuck with Skyforger yesterday. Never been quite sure, if Elegy is just a good album or a really great album. The songs are good, and there's atmosphere, but...

Burzum - Umskiptar

Kind of a second chance. Sounds quite fresh, because the only thing I remember about it, was that it was too slow and dragged hard.

EDIT: Still sucks hard. Couldn't finish it.

Alghazanth - Moving Mountains

Great Finnish Melodic BM!
I wonder why I have never checked them out before.

Wardruna - Jara

Very nice song, I love how folky it gets towards the end. The lyrics and imagery fits perfectly with the other songs on the first album. It's all about fertile soil, growth, planting seeds, new beginnings and so on.

It has its moments, but yeah I've come to the same conclusion. Making the vocals the main focus is a big mistake, it just makes it sound like the music is made to fit the vocals and goes on for as long as it needs to for the vocals to complete the stanzas. The opposite seemed to be true for the old albums, where the vocals almost seemed improvised on the already prepared music.

It sounds just boring. You may be right about the vocals. Not a good idea. Some decent guitar parts here and there, but they can not save it. It just never gets going.

Shining - Endless Solitude

First song on first release. Mostly a bit generic DSBM, but the guitar playing gets really nice after around 2:30 mark, very melodic and beautiful along with the double bass drums.

The Misfits - American Psycho

They chugged out some heavy fucking riffs on here. Fun little ride.

Great record. Just saw Michale play the whole thing live. Dig Up Her Bones brought the house down.

Dig Up Her Bones is easily the best song on there, but yeah it's all at least solid as fuck.

Excalion - Nightmariner

Still playing this at least once a day.

Nomad Son - Age Of Contempt

I've heard them described as "speed doom" but whatever they are, they're mighty good...

No man the best track is Shining. Why they named it that and wrote the lyrics about Poltergeist still eludes me though.

Sonne Adam-I sing His words

Revisited this on Spotify after not having heard it in like 6 years. Not bad I guess perfectly sounds musicianship, occasionally haunting mid-paced riffs, but it’s not something that really holds my attention.

Impaled Nazarene - Steelvagina

Decided to listen Suomi Finland Perkele again, because of the topic here. They say the Legenda albums have same kind of material as in SFP. I got their records. Abandoned. Somewhere.

Barathrum - Legions of Perkele

Straight continuation to Suomi Finland Perkele. The fucking best.

Iron Maiden - Be Quick Or Be Dead

I actually prefer the two Blaze albums over the two Bruce albums from the 90's (No Prayer For The Dying and Fear Of The Dark) but this is a decent song nonetheless.
