Paysage d'Hiver - Winterkälte

Similar to being a very atmospheric Darkspace.

Vlad Tepes - Anthologie Noire

I've been listening to a lot of black metal lately and this is a very grim release

Damned If You Do - Metal Church

Uninpressive and at times painful stripped down thrash, if even that.

mTORR: North

Fucking hell this album is iron. And I got a mini-cd and a mini-lp from the same band still waiting to be listened. This is as metal and as Finnish, as it possibly gets.

I'm afraid another uninspired release was to be expected.

NP: Entombed - Blessed Be

So I suddenly had this urge to revisit Clandestine and I'm glad that I did. This doesn't beat Left Hand Path (still the best Swedish DM album there is) but this more ''progressive'' approach on Swedeath is definitely a cool thing, too.

Surprised these guys aren’t more popular. They’re fucking great.

ZZ Top - Got Me Under Pressure

God these guitars are addictive.

Anciients - Following the Voice

Like mid-era Opeth but with all the kinks worked out. They definitely upped the intensity since Hearts of Oak (which is still the sheit)

Shatter the Empyrean
By: Anaal Nathrakh
From: Hell is Empty, and All the Devils Are Here

FUUUUUUUCCKKK YEEEAAAHHHH this band is too good. I've been streaming their albums for the past two days at work. I definitely have to buy a couple. This shit is so good, it's basically a reminder why I love Metal. It's like the first time I heard Atomizer or Destroyer666.

I FUCKING LOVE ANAAL NAHTRAKH! Every album from their catalogue is excellent. Dave Hunt's vocals are outstanding while the music is apocalyptic. I really think that this group is my all-time favorite band.

NP: Metal Church - Beyond the Black

Pretty solid and all, but I'm somewhat surprised by the amount of high scores for this album.

Year of the Goat - I'll Die For You

These guys are clicking with me again. Peculiar act, but honestly I like them better than most retro bands. They have a very genuine feel and the riffs are solid as fuck.

Anthrax - "A.D.I./Horror Of It All"

One of my favorite tracks from my most favorite Anthrax album. The band definitely hit their stride on this album. It just flows with one song after the other that's laden with awesome, catchy riffs.

Agalloch - check!

Entombed - "Sinners Bleed"

Clandestine was my first exposure to Entombed and that album still blows me away to this day. This track in particular caught my ear with its busy riffing and surprising tempo changes. Simply awesome!

Cradle of Filth - Death, the Great Adventure

I'm listening to The Manticore and Other Horrors for the first time now and it seems like the album has all of its guns blazing for the first half of the album, but then, somewhere after the title track, it loses its strength and catchiness (I'll give a pass to "Sinfonia", a rather interesting instrumental).

That statement about Anaal Nathrakh is very cliche man. Every time this band is mentioned, somebody has to make a joke about their name.

Well somebody has to say it since a certain older poster is no longer with us.

NP: Terminus - The Reaper's Spiral

Pretty good stuff, need to keep listening though. Love the epic style of vocal melodies at play here.

^ One of the best choruses in all of metal.

The White Stripes - s/t

Primal rock and roll savagery and I love it. The guitars are fucking huge.

When he nails it with vocal patterns and melodies holy fucking shit does he nail it. For example in Defiance the whole "I fight for my people, my home, and my land, fighting is our legacy on earth..."

Arch Nemesis - Fatal Victory

I've been looking for this album for almost 20 years (since it came out in 2002). I've never heard these guys, but I remember reading about this record in an old fanzine around the time and have been hunting it down ever since.

This is one band I still need to check out. Always thought it was "Jesus don't fear the reaper", not "seasons".

The musicality and atmosphere on Epigenesis is mindblowing - been a while since I played this one.

Have you heard ''The Buring of Rome'' from Age of Consent? That album is extremely inconsistent, but that song's so good with DeFeis' best performance on it.

NP: Serpens Aeon - Circle of Serpents

The Chasm-esque death metal by ex The Chasm bandmembers. What a surprise!
