Fairytale - Into Your Heart
Heavy metal that doesn't do much justice to the melodic tag.

A Pale Horse Named Death - "Cracks in the Walls" from And Hell Will Follow Me

Been packing up my collection for an upcoming move, and I'm re-visiting some albums that have been just resting my shelves for a while.

Helloween- Master of The Rings

Take Me Home coming in for a Van Halen-esque save to an otherwise mediocre as hell album.

Fates Warning - Orphan Gypsy

Early Fates is just one of those moments in metal that can't really be replicated because it's so unorthodox in every aspect - the riffs are regular US style stuff but woven into these super dense, weird concoctions, and I can't even imagine what it was like to hear Arch's batshit vocal acrobatics back then. It shouldn't have worked so well. And there's not much you can say as a comparison. It stands alone.

This is so utterly unorthodox but so fucking good.

King Diamond - Abigail

That new review did have one positive, in getting me to hear this again. Truly rich, textured guitar work and manic dark atmosphere. Good shit.

Try Cauldron Born or Deadly Blessing's debut album. All excellent offerings.

Yeah both of those are similar, you're right.

Listening to Dave Chappelle - Deep in the Heart of Texas at work.

Arch/Matheos - Wrath of the Universe

These are seriously some of the more dense, involved songs I've heard in a long while. Next level shit. Loving the lyrics too.

Krallice - Guilt of Time
The first time I heard this track a few years ago, I demolished the replay button, and it still hasn't lost its magic. Black metal excellence.

Slough Feg - The Red Branch

One of their best ever songs... this narrative storytelling style and these quirky jaunt-like melodies, just doesn't get much better than that.
