black / death metal with twisted, off-kilter riffs and drum work, it's really really cool https://duplicaterecords.bandcamp.com/album/ii

Necros Christos - Domedon Doxomedon

First listen and I’m in need of a large glass of whisky. Epic and kinda hard to take in on the first listen. Death doom at it’s finest.

Pink Floyd - Terminal Frost

Beautiful track. Gilmour's stuff is really quite something.

I wouldn't be surprised if some mod changed my "Metal newbie" status into "Pink Floyd Boi" or something given the fact how much I listen to those guys and how often I post that I listen to them.

Argentum - Isolated Obscurations

It's refreshing to hear this demo/EP material with a solid production job. One hell of a band that deserves more recognition.

Pink Floyd rules and most metalheads are smart enough to recognize that.

Alkaloid - Liquid Anatomy

Halfway point of the year is here and I'm revisiting some stuff for a list of favorites. This one is a contender.

Opus Eponymous will always be one of the most important albums I've ever heard in my life.

Tad Morose - Come Morpheus

This is a genuinely good, fucking cool shredder of an album. Full of the groovy, badass riffs I always liked from them. A real surprise actually.

Autokrator - Hammer of the Heretics

Definitely an example of how to marry production value to music. Unreal brutality... very cool in its own way.

The fact that Death or Glory wasn't the first one you got is already borderline blasphemy.

Cacophony - Sword of the Warrior

There are some good moments on this second Cacophony disc, but I think Speed Metal Symphony is much, much better.

This is one of my favourite Yngwie songs as well, and the album as a whole keeps growing on me!

FRACTAL UNIVERSE
It's a french technical death metal band from France,
that didn't forget to have riffs! Some tracks are extreme, some tracks are progressive...
Saw them live, it sounded like a mix of later DEATH (Sounds of perseverance, perhaps Individual), old SPAWN OF POSSESSION and some old MORBID ANGEL.
Great gig.

Enblood - Cast to Exile

https://enblood.bandcamp.com/album/cast-to-exile

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XW1RGsR4nl4

I haven't listen to anything else the past 3 days. Sure I might be biased as hell here because it's a band from my own country, but don't let that get in the way of checking out this one, because it's really good stuff, awesome debut for a young band filled with good riffs and amazing solos throughout the whole album.

As a bonus, you have Linus from Obscura/Alkaloid making a special appearance on this very track.

Fairyland- A Soldiers Letter.

Great chorus, and the keyboard melodies sounds like something off of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Délétère - De Horae Leprae

Is this year's running theme bands that put out albums out of nowhere? Whatever the case is, it's been a real long while since I've heard some good Quebec black metal so I'll be diving right into this.

Random impressive stuff:

Talking Heads - Born Under Punches

I found an amazing live version, the groove is wicked and Belew goes insane with the strange effects. I need to know more about them

Toxik - Think This

Been forever since i've listened this album, the leads are even more impressive than i remembered and i enjoy the vocals way more than i remembered

Helheim - Mork, Evig Vinter

I didn't really expect this dreamy sound, but works really well. Also pretty impressive drummer

Dodheimsgard - A Humbra Omega

I've heard this compared to Ordo Ad Chao but it doesn't sound similar at all save for a general experiental-ness. There's way more traditional structuring and riffage here. It's actually almost proggy, wheras Ordo sounds broken and regressive. Still really fucking amazing. Really really fucking amazing.

I can feel a Tool deep-dive coming on. It's sad to say, but I basically stopped listening to Tool over a decade ago purely because of how obnoxious most of their fan base it. That's on me. I've never been a HUGE Tool fan, but each album has 2-5 tracks on it that I really enjoy. I was listening to Forty-Six & 2 today and I forgot how much I liked that song.

Candlemass - Nightfall

Know about them since years, but neve really listen to a full-length album of them and because I will see them live in less than a month I thought now is the time to listen to this album.

At The Gates - To Drink From The Night Itself

I'm enjoying the new album more than I thought I would - heavier than I expected. Now I need to go back and re-check the last one as I ain't heard it since it came out.
