Immolation - Divine Code

Now this is heavy stuff. No idea why I didn't check this out when I was into my death metal obession period.

Sir, Immolation are a mandatory listen in the realm of death metal. That album is flawless in my opinion. The cleaner production style fits their dissonant riffing better. I really dig the song Majesty And Decay. It kind of just trots along until the lead guitar lays down some thick atmosphere. I am on quite the Immolation kick myself right now. However I am exploring their early material. Glad you enjoy them.

Heavy metal done absolutely right.

That album is damn perfect! I used to listen to that on the way to and from school, everyday, for a while.

Nice! One of my favorite Depeche Mode songs, that melody and the backing vocals by Martin make the song.

NP: Gorguts - The Quest for Equilibrium

The one thing Obscura was missing was a slugger like this track. Sick solo too.

Encircling Sea - Transcend (Edit) from their new album A Forgotten Land.

It appears this band has moved away from the one-song format of their last two albums. By the edits of the two songs on bandcamp it also seems they're focusing a bit more on the black metal aspect of their sound. Which is fine by me. I really like what I am hearing and will plan to get this album as soon as I can.

Immolation - Breathing the Dark

Really getting into Shadows in the Light lately. I didn't used to like it as much as other Immolation albums but it gets better on every listen.

Metallica - Battery

It must be like 9-10 years since I listened to this record. Was curious to know if it still holds. And it holds, atleast partially! The next one to try is propably Ride the Lightning, which I think (or atleast thought) to be their best. I used to know these albums from start to finish, and now it's all returning to me again. Anyone who says Kirk Hammet is a bland solo guitarist is out of his head :D

Angel Dust - The Temple of the King (Rainbow cover), off Holy Dio

I usually don't like cover albums, but this one is pretty decent, and some of the covers are fairly awesome. This one in particular jumped out at me, in how Angel Dust turned this beautiful, simple, folky song into a full blown power metal epic. I still prefer the original, but this is a great adaptation of a terrific song.
