1349 - Nathicana

Hmmm... First time listening to Hellfire in one sitting, let's see how this will turn out.

Edit: Holy. Fucking. Shit. This fucking rules!

Going through full albums today. Just finished Angel Witch's debut; what a beauty of an album. Melodic, but dark. Raw, yet somehow slick. Just overall a classy, strong album from the NWOBHM days. Now, time for King Diamond's Fatal Portrait.

One album speed metal act from the UK which I have as a Roadrunner LP. Good for the time but sound s a bit dated now. 68/100

Rush - Xanadu

This song is just jaw dropping. This is what rock music should sound like too, the bass is thick and muscular as fuck, the drums crack and punch though, and the that lead tone is so sweet.

Rush ruined prog-metal for me since the bands always come up short in comparison.

Dismember - Dreaming in Red

Listening to it, you'd hardly know this is a Dismember song at all! They're pretty good at more melodic stuff, it seems.

NP: Darkthrone - The Pagan Winter

I like how evident the Celtic Frost influences still are here. What a beast of an album and to think that I didn't like it before! Perhaps the cold weather has something to do with it. :)

Judas Priest - Alone

Personally I feel that there is nothing really wrong with this album. Its lyrically cheesy and a bit overlong but it has a lot of charm and spirit in it... plus I love all the prog influences in the album. Not their best but I would prefer it over albums like Point Of Entry and Angel Of Retribution. I feel that it is pretty underrated. Some songs like Revelations, Conquest, Persecution, this song and the title track would be amazing to hear live.

Don't care much for later stuff by them , though I've only heard Red and bits and pieces of other records, but that is one amazing record.

Abysmer - Insanity

I was looking around the forum for something that's "new" to me. I saw them mentioned in another thread and decided to check them out on Youtube. So far its really good. Very talented musicians in this band.

I agree Ace. I love the early KC stuff but don't really dig the later output. In The Court is a masterpiece though.

NP: King Crimson - In The Wake of Poseidon...another KC classic. Really grows on me with each listen.

The Gates of Slumber - The Wretch

Haven't listened to this in ages. This was the album that got me into the band, and I'm fucking glad it did. I think this is probably their most straight up doom record, but their whole discography is fantastic.

Cradle of Filth - "For Your Vulgar Delectation"

I once wrote of CoF as dead after their 'Damnation and A Day' abomination. But their last 3-4 albums (except the latest one, haven't heard it yet), have been pretty good.

If you find The Manticore & Other Horrors enjoyable, you should really like Cryptoriana. It totally blows away that album, and is at least as good as Hammer of the Witches IMO.

Swallow the Sun - Justice of Suffering

A band I've known about for years, that has at least a few songs I think are great, but I've never bought a full album by them. Maybe I should change that.

I tend to prefer their earlier stuff, but some tracks are real scorchers! Before the War is one of the best songs of the whole genre

Bruce Springsteen - Paradise

I didn't expect a track like this from him, very minimalistic and haunting

Fight - Nailed To The Gun

Power/Thrash/Groove Metal made by the Metal God himself. One of the best albums of the 1990's.

My ancient tape copy fell apart a couple of years ago, so I recently picked up the CD remaster. So good.
