Drunemeton - Fullmoon Asbath

Been playing this a lot the last couple of days. Really good stuff in the vein of Nokturnal Mortum and Graveland. I thought Munruthel and Khors were the only other two competent bands in this style, but this blasts both of them out of the water.

Traveler - Mindless Maze

These guys just released their first demo about a week ago, and they rule! Killer heavy metal. https://travelermetal.bandcamp.com/releases

Decided to jump straight into Candlemass - Ancient Dreams, because everything Candlemass does has an ethereal beauty to it. They conjure up visions of that strange dream you had last night, but can't remember. Messiah Marcolin's voice calls across the inky abyss of phantasmagoria, drawing you to your bittersweet demise. I'm obviously loopy from the fumes in this lab...

Running Wild - Black Skies, Red Flag

The first time I heard the verse riff I was like: "Hell yes, Rolf's still got it!"
Great song, bad production.

Amen! I've been preaching about the virtues of this album for years, but only few people have managed to overcome it's ..well, "apparent" stupidity  great songs!

Kampfar - Kvass (full)

I don't know why, but i really lost track of these guys.. they were very hyped and had music good enough to live on that hype. Also their show was a blast

I've been revisiting the earlier albums and they are still very enjoyable, i should try the later ones to see what happened.

Thaurorod - Planet X

Been sampling these guys' songs and they're seriously good. High-energy, exhilarating PM with some real chops on guitars and a sense of great, hooky melodies. Very basic in a way but everything is extremely well executed.

Judas Priest - Never the Heroes

This one is the most captivating out of the three singles off Firepower so far, at least in my opinion.

As per Perdition666's recommendation I'm listening to Manipulated Slaves - The Legend of the Black Jade

Really good thrash with a lot of melodic lines from Japan

Judas Priest - Angel of Retribution

The latest new song got my hopes up. AoR has some very strong tracks, definitely on the winning side.

Wolf has been one of my favorite heavy metal bands ever since I first heard them back in 2004. They've been releasing some solid stuff.

'Oppressing the Masses' was one of the seminal thrash albums I listened to a lot back in the day. Still sounds nice to this day.

Testament - True American Hate

Even though the title is a bit cringy, this is a kickass song.

Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing

Even though I've left metalcore behind me, I still really like this album. The more raw vocal approach certainly helps.

Visigoth - Conqueror's Oath

Not sure what to think yet. There's a song based on Highlander though, so points for that.

Cradle of Filth - Death and the Maiden

The longest, "doomiest" song from Cryptoriana.

Curious, I was just watching Highlander II: The Quickening yesterday.

Therion - Darkness Eve

Jesus. Lepaca Kliffoth is truly a hidden gem. Once you've discovered it, you are instantly feeling better, no matter how hard your life seems to be at that point.

Blind Guardian- Battlefield

The reason why Hansi lost his voice is suddenly very apparent.

I agree, they're a damn good band. I still need to hear their most recent album, since I've been a little bit behind in keeping up with newer albums.

New Order - Elegia

All I can think of when I hear this song now are Metal Gear Solid 5 and Stranger Things. But goddamn, does this song evoke a dark, moody feeling.

Walpyrgus-Walpyrgus Nights.

Just found this album a few days ago and I've been obsessed with it since then. It reminds me a little of occult metal like Hell, Mercyful Fate or Satan's Hollow, but simultaneously both poppier and punkier than either. There's some power metal twists thrown in to boot. I'm particularly fond of "The Dead of Night" and "Dead Girls".

Quoted for good, that album is insane and incredibly underrated!

Hollenthon - Fire Upon the Blade

Speaking of underrated.. where was this album hiding?!?
This massive symphonic beast is at least as the same level of the best late era Septic Flesh records!

Whoa, wasn't expecting anyone to drop Hollenthon's name any time soon
I believe that "Fire upon the Blade" is my favourite song from these fellas. That Prokofiev sample sounds glorious!

Dødheimsgard - Final Conquest

Beautifully twisted. The album deserves a higher review rating on here.

I saw the album mentioned as an unknown classic: usually i'm pretty skeptical (lots of cult gems often turn out to be just above average albums) but this is truly a masterpiece of its genre, that song in particular is perfect! :)

Rush - Red Barchetta

Fuck fuck that main riff is just ridiculously amazing. If I had to pick one Rush record I'd be tempted to grab one of their more proggy epics but this record is flat out amazing and this is one of the tunes that makes it that way. Neil and Geddy get fellated all the time but Lifeson deserves the same level of worship

The Rush kick is still going strong....YYZ is next you say?
