Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide

This is some seriously efficient, snappy death metal - I like that it doesn't keep the songs going too long. Just nice short wall of sound bursts. Killer oceanic melody.

Moonknight - Zhora

Sick album. Bm with a ‘dreamy’ quality but that doesn’t compromise the intensity or delectable abrasiveness.

Paradise Lost - Mortals Watch the Day

Can someone help me? I'm 99% sure that the section at 3:45 is ripped off of some Metallica song, but I can't find it. Even the vocals sounds like James Hetfield's.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it! :D Fade to Black. Great song.

Imperial Triumphant - Vile Luxury

Wow! This album is a complete mindfuck! Some sort of avant-garde death metal with trumpets, trombones and tuba. If you dig DsO or Portal, you should enjoy this as well.

I had the idea that riff was stolen from a Black Sabbath song I forgot the name of. :P

NP: Joy Divsion - Decades

What an interesting album - mostly cool laid back stuff.

No Return - Machinery

Perfect opener for an energetic death/thrash album that's just loads of fun.

The Devin Townsend Band - Hypergeek

I can't wait for Empath to be released. It's going to be an interesting album for sure given Townsend's videosnippets of it. The end of March can't come soon enough. Oh well, I'm going to indulge myself in some of his previous work.

Opeth - “Heir Apparent”

Just casually checking out their new live album. I remember having the opinion I didn’t like Watershed, but I know I like this song, Lotus Eater and the amazing intro as well. I should give it another shot. Also, I just moved to Colorado so I really need to check out this Red Rocks venue which is supposed to be amazing. I don’t think they get metal bands often though, too bad I wasn’t around for this show.

Van Halen- Running With The Devil (live)

From the recent Tokyo Dome live album. Honestly it sounds fine to me.

Is it considered a bad sounding recording normally?

Dave's live vocals have gotten a LOT of flak. The thing is he was never really a great singer even in his prime. He was there to serve the same purpose as Ozzy did in Black Sabbath: frontman/hypeman/entertainer. I'd actually argue Ozzy in his prime was a better singer than Roth was.

I suppose yes, technically Roth's vocals are less than impressive, but they aren't making me cringe.

Van Halen- Mean Street (live)

 :np:

and this is still nastier and more metal than everything on Point of Entry combined. I'll go even further and say it would have fit in just fine on Killers.

Manilla Road - Roadkill

Got this on vinyl a while back and finally opened it up to give it a spin. Wow these songs are played fast. Randy Foxe is on fucking fire. Vocals are spot on, though sometimes threatening to fall behind the absolutely breakneck tempos. Book of Skelos is great to hear live.

Only issue is the sound quality, particularly the guitar is a bit muddy. And the bass is a little thin. But I honestly don't care too much, it is magic. A legendary band at the height of their powers.

Opium Warlords - Live at Colonia Dignidad

Costed 20 cents in a record store, so I had to buy it. :) The booklet is almost more interesting than the album itself. The mention of Zyprexa made me feel warm. Don't really miss that drug, though.

Virgin Steele - House of Atreus Act 1

This really is just a stunning work... the level of dynamics and way it flows between interludes and songs is jaw-dropping. A real compositional masterwork.

Battle Beast- No More Hollywood Endings

I dig it. Probably won't convince anyone who hated Bringer of Pain. Also, no guitar solo. :boo:

Beast In Black- Die By The Blade

Yeah....this is more poppy than NMHE, and not in the good way. Sweet True Lies is even worse in my opinion. There is a guitar solo here, though, so they got that going for them. Which is nice.

NP: Cryptic Brood - Brain Eater

Sounds like Divine Eve with more intense vocals. In other words: superb doom/death metal.

Lifetime - Cut the Tension
Time for some sorta sloppy and blunt punk music, which is always fun.

It may not have a guitar solo, but it certainly has an insanely catchy and fun riff.

Bilskirnir - Hammerschlag

If you like black metal then you should listen to this compilation and I really enjoyed every demo. This compilation is like a mixture of Burzum, Graveland, and Moonblood.

Mist of Misery - "Melancolic Thoughts" from Absence

Sitting in my chair, looking out my front window, and watching the rain pour. Cannot think of a better way to start my day.

Visigoth - Mammoth Rider

Crushing and catchy. I'm coming around more to the follow up but the debut is fucking great. Slots right in with my Manowar, Omen, and Virgin Steele.

I got into these guys in 2011, and haven't listened to them since. Still grimy and crushing stuff.

The riff and guitar that takes over the whole sound is orgasmic, just insane.
To much riffs here!

Witching Hour - Barbed Wire Lust

Just ordered the new album, so I return to the last one now.
Killer black/thrash.
Catchy as hell.
Some ''Midnight'' feeling in this song.

Queensryche - The Thin Line

Yeah, "Empire" is definitely a sellout effort, but it still contains some nice songs like this one; also a lot of fun to play on guitar.
