When Dance Of Death first came out, this song really grated on me. Now I dig it. As repetitive as it is... it's got kinda cool atmosphere.

:headbang:

Wolf and Raven - The Star Goddess

Been getting into synthwave in the last few months. Wolf and Raven really have a lot of groovy stuff.

Nevermore - We Disintegrate

Fell out of this band after being a huge fan thru TGE. Smoking cut but not a fan of Dane's vocals as I used to be, or that guitar tone.

Dane got a lot worse with time. I couldn't listen to half of Nevermore's stuff because of his tunelessness and Loomis's annoying riffs.

This was my first punk album, I believe. I loved it when I was 15 and honestly it holds up now. Most importantly however, i think it's the closest the band got to rekindling the spirit of RiB.
Oh, and 'Gemini' is a bold experiment for the band for sure, one of my favourite tracks of theirs.

Nevermore - The Fault of the Flesh

I'd like to punch the guy who mixed and mastered this in the face. This album just sounds like shit. So fucking harsh. Its passable on speakers but on earbuds its brutal. Constant distortion.

Very enjoyable, obscure early 1990s death metal.

I'm going to check this out today. I am very intrigued by what I've heard so far.

I've listened to the new Hatriot album twice today. I can't believe how much Souza's son sounds like him. I know genetics are A THING but wow, I would have no idea it wasn't Steve.

I recommend it for sure. I've heard even more positive things about her newest album CALIGULA. Was going to listen to just that today but I wanted some context and to familiarise myself with the rest of her work.

when come to think about, that orchestration in this song is a true highlight of BNW album...

This is some great traditional metal from Canada. It was only released a couple of months ago, and it will be in my Top 10 of 2019 when I make that video.

I discussed it in a recent YouTube video I made.

Ancient Rites "The Diabolic Serenades"

It's a fond memory of times past. This album is one of my first bm cassettes that i bought around 1996. Great stuff.

That album is so cool, and that particular song got me first. Great bass and guitar work, the drums are insane, and the singer has a great epic story telling feel in his vocals.

Shining (se): carnival of rust

I prefer it to the original, which is still good. I'd pay to see Niklas do an acoustic solo tour, playing small cafes :D

Loudblast - Sublime Dementia

Moderately technical oldschool death metal in the vein of Death and Cynic. Could've benefited from more aggression but solid stuff overall.

Elder - Weißensee

Anyone else enjoying this new EP (The Gold and Silver sessions)? 33 minutes of instrumental psyched out bliss. I love it, even if it’s pretty laid back for Elder. Turning the krautrock up on this one.

Abigor - Unleashed Axe-Age

Forgot Nachthymnen for a very long time. This is one of those bands, who totally have their own sound. Not even aped that much, as much as I know.

Maybe too laid back for me but at this point, after those future classics, they can do anything

Soen - "Lunacy"

One of three standout tracks from the new album, very Opeth-ian. The other two standouts are, in my view, "Martyrs" and "River." In my view _Lotus_ is the album that should get Soen onto the Archives. It's not their best album - that was _Lykaia_ - but it is mostly metal.

strangely enough, I thought Lykaia was a disappointment... I haven't even touched the "new" one. I do like the first two a lot, tho.

np: Heaven's Gate - Shadows aka the song that got me into them. shame they split up :/ could use another Virgo album as well but that's not gonna happen either... :(
