Outworld - I, Thanatos

Man, why couldn't the whole album in this vein. Most songs on this album have their moments but are full of dull, lifeless riffs. This song is absolutely amazing however - the grinding riffs, atmospheric keyboards and soaring vocals combine perfectly.

Crazy album. Certainly a unique gem in the Slayer catalogue.

Actually, I find that whole album to be very boring, I, Thanatos included. There's just nothing that jumps at me save for Kelly's vocals. Now that I think about it, I have never heard Kelly being backed by actually interesting music (Beyond Twilight's novelty wore off rather quickly). Quite the shame, really, because Carpenter is an insane singer.

Fozzy - Wormwood, off Chasing the Grail

Against all odds, I like this.

Katatonia - In Silence Enshrined

I seriously miss this Katatonia. The main riff for some reason makes think of like a bleaker Candlemass riff.

Slayer - Diabolus In Musica

With the three bonus tracks crammed in where they should be. Actually a pretty cool album.

Slayer - God Hates Us All

Two more bonus tracks added. This album is funny, and some of the riffs are pretty cool. The solos are as wacky as ever.

Deceptor - Chains of Delusion

My first CD of 2013, and just an awesome EP all around. It really brings out that tech thrash sound at times that I thought was lost.

Just finished Attero Dominatus, and now I'm onto Metalizer. One of my favorite power metal bands.

Van Halen - Hot for Teacher, off 1984

If Van Halen had more speedy, savage songs such as this one, I would actually like them.

And mine too!

Right now listening to my newly acquired Silencing Machine by Nachtmystium. The album has a great tone to it.

Augury - Fragmentary Evidence

Spinning this album since someone decided to offer it to me, talk about a late Christmas present. Half the time this sounds like a natural evolution of the debut while the rest of the time it seems like a precursor to the Beyond Creation album. Although it has a technical flair it's still more heavily rooted in progressive roots but it does show some approximation towards a more straightforward tech/prog act than the debut, which was really wild in terms of form. Oh hell, it's a great album and I do hope the band comes up with something new on this upcoming year!

Nah man, sorry, it's just Hot for Teacher that clicks with me in any way. I could never get into Van Halen, and I don't think I'll ever be able to.

Judas Priest - Nightcrawler, off Painkiller

Love the spooky overtones this song has. HE'S GONNA GET YOU!!!

I don't understand how a metalhead could not like I'm The One. It's thrash before thrash!

Pantera- Strength Beyond Strength

Fun Fact: The album Far Beyond Driven knocked off the #1 spot: Ace of Base's The Sign
