Fates Warning - Valley of the Dolls

Unfathomably perfect. Awaken the Guardian is one of the nigh impossible albums to top, something I can pick up at any time during the year and still love to the fullest extent. And "Fata Morgana" just came on. Oh shit.

I've only found one album in all of metal that stands up to this one, and that's Blind Guardian's 'Somewhere Far Beyond'. 'Giant's Lore (Heart of Winter)' is probably the most underrated song in the history of existence.

Protector - Retribution in Darkness

Some VERY heavy teutonic thrash with death metal elements, it's a shame these guys haven't enjoyed the success of the 'big three'. I've also noticed that hard copies of their stuff is pretty hard to come by, especially at a reasonable price.

That's a good description of its sound. However, it is not a Manilla Road album, despite Mark Shelton's involvement with it. It is a Hellwell album. I realize this seems like I'm trying to be an ass, but I'm honestly not. I just think we ought to give credit where credit is due; in this case, credit is due to a group that Mark the Shark went out of his way to distinguish from the Road: Hellwell. That's the last I'll say on the matter. Either way, you have kick-ass taste in metal, so I'm not criticizing you at all. The Road goes ever on, my friend. :metal:

That sounds interesting. Not sure if I've already checked them out. Will do so soon.

It'll always remain Manilla Road's awesome 17th album to me, and Hellwell 2 will be awesome number 19 \m/
