Kreator - People of the Lie

Ok I take back what I said, Coma is one of the thrash goats!

ABBA - Gold

My girlfriend got me ABBA Gold on vinyl as an early birthday present, and I am ecstatic about it. This is one that I've wanted forever, but for whatever reason never bought. This comp is full to the brim with their best songs, some of which never appear on their albums. ABBA kills.

ABBA is great! Something my parents and I have in common.

Doomsword - Heathen Assault

Just youtubeing around. Bathory, beware! Got a few albums from this band, should dig them out.

Sacrofire - Symphonie.... (1997)

Only album from this obscure death metal band from the USA. Wish they had stayed around and made more 80%.

ZZ Top - I Got The Six

Funny when what you thought was the weak link in a batch of albums you bought turns out to be the most-played one of them all. This is a great piece of hard rock.

Altar Of Oblivion - "State of Decay" from Barren Grounds

Been hooked on this ep for days now. Only complaint is that I wish it were longer.

HECATE (Black metal/ France)
I'm not a big black metal fan, but yesterday night the band HECATE played in my area.
They practice a quite fast, rather melodic black metal, in a style quite close to Dissection, the first Sacramentum, or the first Immortal albums... It's quite well done, quite "abstract".
Worth the hear for fans of the style.

Astronoid - S/T - never even heard of these guys until this week. I assume they're probably not well liked around here but I think they're fun.

Absurd - In die Schlacht

Totenlieder is most likely my favorite Absurd album.
Killer guitar and riffs. Hatefull full out vocals.

King Diamond - The Pact

I had to put on ''House of God'' tonight, got a feeling that this album is my least favorite by KD.
But hell, this is amazing.

The King forever!

Windir - Fagning

Probably the best song from the final album. I love how it starts out brutal but by the end it's so melodic and beautiful.

Funeral Mist - Hekatomb

Eh, not as good as their other two after a few focused listens today. Maybe I just need to be in a different mood, but Salvation sounded both more brutal and interesting. I liked Maranatha more as well. But gotta give it all more time. Halfway between Marduk type blast stuff (of which I'm not a huge fan) and DsO (at least SMRC; huge fan). Not sure why I didn't check out this band sooner (maybe the Marduk connection honestly, woops).

Really gripping stuff. I love some extreme metal blended with other genres - if anything it's the main purpose of it for me, to channel various feelings and evoke things by incorporating a variety of other influences, etc. This is of singular purpose.

For some reason, Varg is the only white nationalist fucko in metal that I have no problem enjoying his music. Maybe it's because I grew up listening to Burzum, and Burzum is still absolute top notch black metal.

Killer stuff, the riffs are so cool.

I have seen them twice live and... nothing.

Usurper - Hypnotic Void

This is some dark, unholy shit. Much less anthemic and hooky than Twilight Dominion. More of a murderous, seriously evil vibe and atmosphere. But man these riffs are so fucking good.

Forest Grave - To Smash the Cross

First release by FG back in 2008, and it's a very good start really.
Nice mid paced BM with some fitting synth in there.

Great project.

Funnily enough, it's related to what I'm listening now...

Tool - Prison Sex

Honestly, Undertow is still a mystery to me. The only Tool album I am yet to digest. If we exlude the instrumental part near its end, I still don't feel this track as I do, say, "Forty Six & 2".

Great song, great album! 'Fire and Ice' used to be my favorite Yngwie album. Be sure to check out 'Marching Out', 'Facing the Animal', and 'Alchemy' too.

Fusion Bomb - Concrete Jungle (2019)

First listen to this thrash band from Luxembourg. It's a decent listen but pretty generic as most thrash seem to me these days.

Yeah I watched a video review of his career and my opinion of his as mindless wankery began to change after I checked out some tracks.

Dusk - Envision The Terror

I'm really glad these guys re-released their older material (EP + full-length). It's great doom/death metal that used to be somewhat difficult to come by. Their new EP is especially good.

This is a chillingly good song - floored with how the structure is and those excellent vocal lines.

Would love for these guys to put out some new music. I've always loved Jens Ryden's vocals SO MUCH. His work in Naglfar is fantastic (12th Rising is one of my favourite black metal songs ever)

Enslaved - E

Amazing album, didn't appreciate it immediately but it's really improved over time. Unity of vision and all that. Love the organ in "Sacred Horse". Good mix of proggy sounds, post-rock soundscape type shit, and more aggressive parts. Sometimes I feel the heavy parts are weak, like in "Storm Son", but after warming up to the sound I think they fit and grow quite well.
