Amorphis - Veil Of Sin

Such a remarkable atmosphere on this album! ...And that sax just ads the perfect touch!

Really good stuff.

Mos Generator - Shadowlands

Pretty good stoner rock. The title track is so good. The album does lose me a bit as it goes on though..

Demons & Wizards - Wolves In Winter

The album is starting to grow on me. The almost of hi-hat in the mix still annoys me, and if you keep comparing it to the debut, it'll never live up. I agree after like 20 years, I expected more, but autonomously on it's own away from the other 2 records, the bad music video, it's not horrible. Hansi still sounds fucking amazing.

Mayhem - Funeral Fog

I realize people are pretty split on Attila's vocals but honestly I think they add to the atmosphere of this particular album and I kinda love them.

I've listened to DMDS so many times now that I sometimes forget how strange and unique they really are. Very different from pretty much anything in Norway in 1993 (when they were recorded). To me, even the songs where we have recordings with Dead, I still consider Attila to be the definite vocalist on those tracks, singing Dead's lyrics.

Toto - Africa

How can one listen to this and not smile? Such a comfy classic.

Demons and Wizards - Diabolic

This whole album has been a surprise. I've been a huge fan of D&W and love the first two albums, but this whole album just has something of a fresh sound. Jon has his style, but it does feel like he's gotten more colorful and broadened how he writes songs. I'm liking it a lot so far.

King Gizzard - Deserted Dunes Welcome Weary Feet

Noodly, spacey psychedelic waves. Soothing.

Conception - A Million Gods

How I wish the band would write something like this again - pretty much their most progressive, adventurous piece of work, yet it's fascinating and catchy in a strange way.

Hands of Orlac - Vengeance from the Grave

Vintage sounding doom metal from the last decade with flute. It's not bad, but I don't find myself spinning it more than once a year or so.

Exodus - Piranha

When I took my shower this morning, I thought I was being attacked by Piranhas. Thought I would reminisce on the ride to work.

Alice Cooper - Trash

Probably (hopefully) everyone knows this.

Last night I was listening to Unholy, the third and the fourth albums, precisely.

Dissection - The Somberlain

Been a long time. Still a classic.

Old Wainds - Religion of Spiritual Violence.

Nowhere to go today. Might as well delve into records. This is some raw but also majestic black metal.

Conception - Roll The Fire.

Great cut off a great album. Probably my #3 record by them but still that is pretty kick ass. I think Khan got less "breathy" in his vocal approach later on that sounded better IMO.

The Obsessed - Lunar Womb

Prepping for the show this Thursday, plan to spin at least two Obsessed records per day.

Up next, though, is Physical Graffiti in honor of its 45th!

Eternal Champion - The Armor of Ire

Love the riff, love the melody, but holy shit dial back the reverb. Its like I'm listening to a record my brother is cranking in his room down the hall.

I think a new album is in the works?

Well, this is rocking stuff to my ears at least.

Never believe the propaganda about that album. Your life will be better off for it.

Eternity's End - The Fire Within

If this had been released in like 2007 they'd be huge. I hope they get more recognition soon. Blistering, carnage-wreaking power metal.

Marco Hietala - Death March for Freedom

I only like 5 or so tracks from this album, but those 4 tracks I really like. It's funny how that happens sometimes.

Lovebites - Holy War

It's too bad this album doesn't have any truly explosive tracks like "Rising" or "We the United" from the last album, but it's pretty great anyway.

Marilyn Manson - Portrait of an American Family.

One of my all time favorite albums. Do not like any other albums by them/him, with the exception of a few songs. Really love this album.

I like stuff up to and including Antichrist Superstar, I tuned out for the most part when he started to think he was able to sing. I mean I guess he can carry a tune, he just has a seriously annoying singing voice. On top of that he dropped pretty much all industrial rock from the sound after Antichrist Superstar and replaced it with some weird idea of sounding like David Bowie covering Green Day or vice versa.

I like up to Mechanical Animals, and scattered songs after that. What I heard of The Pale Emperor wasn't too bad though. But not good enough for me to go out and buy it.

In this spirit

Ravenword - Life is in Your Hands

Such an incredibly disappointing album--the first few tracks are outstanding, but then it just turns into tepid garbage immediately afterwards.
