Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark (AWESOME and under-rated!!!)
P.I.L. - This is PIL (Weird and good!)
Alestorm - Captain Morgan's Revenge (Good!)
Billy Idol - Devil's Playground (Good, except for the Xmas song!)
Beastie Boys - Solid Gold Hits (Awesome!)

Midnight "Fucking Speed And Darkness". First song off the new album "Rebirth By Darkness" and what a cracker it is too. Vicious old school Venom / Bathory mixed with some rockin NWOBHM, but it''s all Midnight, guaranteed ed banger. Athenar is 4 for 4 for kick ass albums now, 6 if you count the comps. Bloody legend.

Lil Reese - We Won't Stop (ft. Chief Keef)

God damn! What a great song honestly. The vocal melody as well as the melody in it is just absolutely infectious and just exudes that same badass characteristic I get from old Slayer and Early DM!!!

Elffor - Instinct's Enslavement

Frostbitten Pain is still one of my favorite Elffor albums.
Love it.

Exdeo- The Immortal Wars

Stick with this band and stop releasing Kataklysm albums.

Trees of Eternity - Gallows Bird

A band that should have existed for infinitely longer than it did. Cancer sucks.

Haven't played that one in a long time. Should track it down.

Twisted Tower Dire - Fortress

In the mood for something ass-kicking and direct.

Helmet - Blacktop

So simple, yet so great. Helmet is the only band I've ever heard that can play two-note nu metal style riffs without having them sound like garbage.

Carcass - Exhume to Consume

That band thread is getting me to listen to more Carcass as of late.

Manilla Road - Spirits of the Dead

Played 'Courts of Chaos' and now Mystification. They were so fucking good then. Such an inimical sound overall.

Witchcraft - It's Not Because of You

Catchy, riffy Pentagram-style doom metal mixed with vintage hard rock. The vocals are a highlight as well, very distinct singing style.

Mütiilation - To the Memory of the Dark Countess

Wow the drums towards the end... along with most other occasions of double bass on the album... Forgot how rough it was. Amazing. Mütiilation rules!

Judicator- Gloria

I mean it’s not bad. But man was it a whole lot of nothing. The whole album is like that. These guys are overhyped.
I did like the female vocals in the song though.

Night in Gales - A Spark In The Crimson Eclipse

Digging the new album so far. A nice melodic death metal release. The snare is a little "pingy" for me, but the songs are good.

Carved Cross - Sapped of Strength, Left to Wither and Fade Away

This EP captures feelings of cold depressiveness, a sense of the primordial, and a kind of dark dreamlike quality and blends it all together into an entrancing package. Really cool band.

Mudvayne - Dig

My introduction to this band. The first time I've heard it, and I'm impressed. Didn't know technical nu-metal could be a thing.

Malmsteen - You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget

Synth Synth, POWERCHORD - and what, that's NOT Tony Martin on the vocals ?

Trilogy is a great record, it should be in everyone's collection.

Babylon Whores - Death of the West

Especially the first side is great.

Survivor - Caught in the Game

Haven't heard a bad album from them yet.

Sleep of Monsters - Nihil Nihil Nihil

Their first album is GOD.

Bal-Sagoth - Starfire Burning... album

I'm realizing I'd never really heard a lot of their stuff... this is a real killer of an album with nonstop razorblade riffage, wild symphonics and diabolical narration. So pompous - but really quite exciting and dynamic.

20 years later, I still think this is a great song. Didn't care for much more from this band, but that track is top notch.

Love it. A lot of great songs on that record, especially side 2. I remember I bought the cassette based on the cover alone.

Hilarious stuff, i love it! Their album Battle Magic is even more excessive if you can believe it

Apati - Morgondagen

rainy day here, this music is perfect. I can see the Lifelover comparisons but their material to me sound very sincere. it's really tragic what happened to Obehag :(

Heard that one for the first time last night too. I think I like it even better. Chthonic Chronicles is probably still my favorite I've heard though.

AC/DC - What You Do for Money Honey

Inspired by that hard rock thread... a lot of these guys' songs just got so overplayed for me in movies and whatnot. But they've got quality shit.

I think we seemed to come to a consensus that they were one of the better bands in the genre. I have a couple CDs of theirs, ok for once in awhile. I dug "Death Blooms" growing up. Ryan Martinie is a great bass player especially.

Might have been the same magazine - that was also an early Gamma Ray song for me (that and 'Rebellion in Dreamland')

Dark Princess - Everlasting Pain

Russian goth metal, complete with a 70% lineup change in four albums, a song called 'Please Betray Me', and terrrrrrible lyrics about vampires and so forth. Limited to two decent riffs per album.

Intestine Baalism - Banquet In The Darkness

I used to listen to this album on repeat non-stop a couple of months ago until I didn't enjoy it as much anymore. Feels great to revisit it after some time, because now it's very enjoyable again. Melodeath masterpiece. It's a shame they stopped writing new material, though I think they're still active & play live from time to time. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
