If you enjoy some slam, this is groovy as hell!

^ Yeah that's some dumb fun there. Not bad.

Frore 5 Four is some Canadian instrumental avant-garde metal that released their 3rd album on New Year's Day. I haven't heard it all yet but it sounds pretty good.

...Are they trying to get listening traffic from people who think they're Abominable Putridity? Even the logo is fairly similar

They are a clone band, I didn't think AP deserve a clone band but here we are.

Death metal from Chile in the vein of other bands that have been coming out of that country in recent years. Definitely a big Altars of Madness era MA vibe on this album IMO.

Phosphorous - fossilized remains. - kind of sounds finish satanic music without any second wave influence, fans of beherit or antediluvian might be into this.
Sanguinary Emperor-demo , sounds like you’d imagine it feeling if someone “put a curse on you”
Departure chandelier - Satan’ soldier of fortune, some people like black metal with key boards some don’t, i like this.

Not bad and the first sales pitch which has convinced me to listen to anything from this year yet, but man, wtf is up with this production? Sounds weird as hell, all the higher pitched stuff sounds like a keyboard plug in and the low stuff is all warbly.

Listened to this yesterday, I think? The Altars of Madness vibes are real but I am not complaining. It’s a solid record that I enjoyed from front to back.

Listened to the newest 'Kill the Thrill' single 'Autophagie'. Absolutely wonderful track, sure to be representative of the token excellent industrial metal album this year. I own an album by this band and thoroughly enjoy it. The fact that this is their first album in nearly 20 years is incredible! If you're a fan of industrial metal or want something different, give them a spin.

Panzerchrist put out an EP, it's solid

Also for being a band with a gimmick, At the Plates' newest isn't bad either

Guys these threads aren't for promotional singles for upcoming albums. If you can't listen to the whole thing yet, don't post it in here, put in the looking forward to thread.

I'd request the OP or a mod to change the title of this to 'Worthwhile albums of 2024 [Fully released only]" or something along those lines. This thread is a good place to discover fully released albums/eps/demos, so let's try to keep it that way, as we've done for a few years.

Two tracks in and I already think this might be a big contender for my final top 10 AOTY.
These guys really never disappoint. Darkside is a gifted drummer and The Fall has great vocals.

Panzerwar, from Canada, released this album on the very first day of the year.

Didn't know anything about this band(discovered through Rate Your Music), so I went into this album with no expectations.

Quite good traditional BM from what I listened so far.

You beat me to it; first record of 2024 to properly connect with me. Dissolovers will have a good time with this one.
I like how the album ranges from cavernous death metal to more of a black metal atmosphere.
It's a debut but the members are seasoned musicians; well worth checking out if you into the usual practitioners of the style.

Damn good EP by Alluvial just released today. Wes Hauch is such a beast of a guitar player. This one will stand out as one of my top favorite EPs of 2024.

Just listened to it today, could possibly be the first of his albums that actually did something for me. Seems more focused or just better written.

Great band, and I like what I've heard from this EP. I'll pick it up for sure.

I think the same way as MikeyC, I don't like it when bands do releases in such a short space of time, but with Hoplites I'm enjoying keeping an eye on when they release something new. I'm listening to the new one right now and it's surprising me a lot, there's a stylistic leap to something more ambitious and it's clearly different from last year's 3 releases. The saxophone is catching me by surprise but I'm really liking quite a lot so far.

Edit: The saxophone parts remind me a lot of Gong, one of the tags on the bandcamp says "blackened zeuhl" is there any Magma fan here who can appreciate if there are any zeuhl influences on this record?

Releasing albums in quick succesion used to be normal in the 60s and 70s but bands got lazy after that and also hampered in their creativity because of excessive touring.

The only other "black zeuhl" band i know is Papangu, and apart from having saxophone moments and spoken word i can't say that i hear any zeuhl moments on the album, even though im not that familiar with Magma, Zeuhl should sound like bombastic and frankly corny space opera.

The other tag, brutal prog, is much more fitting because it reminds of bands like Ni and Flying Lutherbachers
