New vocalist Hazel Jade Rogers and two new guitarists. Something about this reminds me of Dio.

1. Last Man Down
2. Never Be Here Again
3. Monster
4. Rage Of Ages
5. Abyss
6. Velocity
7. Deadlands
8. One More Time Around The Sun

Well, this is definitely a visit from the ghost of Christmas past. It's been over 20 years since their last album and I was positive that everyone involved had moved on, though it turns out I was only 3/5ths right on that one. Yeah, I can definitely hear some musical similarities to Dio's latter day stuff, as well as the subsequent projects that Craig Goldy has been involved in since Dio's passing (Resurrection Kings, Dream Child). This is one of those few cases where a power metal band replaced one or more prior iconic singers with a female vocalist and the result is actually strong on all fronts, I'll definitely check this out.

You know I'd always been curious about this band, heard the name but never the music. Interesting.

I've known the band for a long time, but never checked them out. Now, this new song is ultra-catchy to me! One of those pieces, that make you want to listen to it several times in a row. Will check out the band this time around!

The earlier stuff in their catalog is pretty different from this new incarnation of the band, more along the lines of Artension with bits of Queensryche and Last Tribe (the original guitarists Bill Yates and Pete Southern both were fairly similar to Magnus Karlsson), but it's pretty solid. I go back and forth on whether I prefer Ten More Tales... or Heathen Machine, both are great albums though Lance King and John K. are radically different singers.

Based on this new song, I'm guessing the new album is going to be a bit heavier than the old stuff, though some of that could be chalked up to 20 years of improvements in studio post-production work.

For some reason it brings Scanner's 'Scantropolis' to my mind. It's nothing totally similar, but female vocals are one thing of course, and something else, too.

Scantropolis reminds me of Limahl's NeverEnding Story.
