Can anyone name any metal shops in the San Fernando Valley? I would prefer not driving all the on the freeway to "Real LA" to make it to a metal shop.

You've gotta check out Vienna Music Exchange, located in Vienna, VA: https://viennamusicexchange.com/ (they're also on IG @maniacalrecords)

One of my all-time favorite metal CD/record shops (though I'm biased, the place is in the town over from my high school and I first discovered it all the way back then as a freshman). The owner Mike is super-cool and will generally order something for you if he doesn't have it in-stock. I'm mostly a CD guy and they have a great new and used selection. It's a really small space but it has a cool vibe, being covered wall-to-wall in old-school show and promo posters. Definitely make a plan to stop by if you live in the area/are visiting.

In New Jersey there's the Princeton Record Exchange in, well, Princeton. It's awesome. Their metal section is growing and the selection is great! I go there all the time. I have found Worm, Wilderun, Symphony X, Opeth, Rivers of Nihil, Boris, Melvins, Archspire, Venom Prison, Mike Lepond's Silent Assassins, Revamp, and dozens of other hard to find metal artists there!

That sounds incredible! Damn, I was living somewhat nearby in Fredericksburg for a year and a half and never knew about it, and now I've been back in the San Diego area for a year. Bummer.

For the San Fernando Valley, check out Freakbeat Records on Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, CA. Not really a "metal shop" by any stretch of the imagination, they're more rock and jazz oriented with a few other genres represented also, but you will occasionally find some metal gems within their racks.

They have cds, vinyl, dvds and small collections of books, T-shirts, collectibles/artifacts, etc. Great prices there too.

Mobius in Fairfax always has a good selection of metal. I regret not picking up a Salome LP last time I was there.

Haven't made it there yet but a record store - Meteor Gem - has recently opened in Chicago (3082 N. Elston) and it apparently "specializes in all things metal".

Anything in Rio de Janeiro? I'll accept anything decent in Brazil, tbqh.

I know there is Galeria do Rock in São Paulo but even there I can't find decent tees for more extreme stuff.

If somebody is planning to visit Nepal, I can guarantee there is absolutely no music shops at all in the whole country, except for a couple useless ones in Kathmandu.... the last 2-3 ones closed 2 years ago after the covid. Don't botherto search on Google Maps: all the addresses listed are totally disappeared or transformed in tourist shops/restaurant/hotel/tattoo shops. I am here for more than 2 months and I checked them all. Just Sur Sudha in Thamel District (which has basically nothing except for one bootleg CDR of Kreator and another one of Cradle Of Filth) and one inside the complex of Boudanath Temple which has nothing related with rock.
One shop left in Bakhtapur too... which sells only soul, ethnic and Ravi Shankar's type of music.
One shop only left in Pokhara too... but at least they have 5 bootleg CD: Deicide's Amon feasting the beast, Cannibal Corpse's Butchered at birth and Gallery of Suicide, one Manowar and one Cradle of Filth, all bootleg CDr from the russian bootleg label Agat Company.
That's all, you won't find anything else.

The only thing related to metal is the "Extreme Metal & Tattoo" Shop in Patan, which sells lot of t-shirts, hoodies, socks, merchandising and the guy is really friendly and talkiative. And another shop behind durbar Square in Kathmandu which sells the same stuff but they don't speak english and they are not friendly at all.

For the rest, be sure that you won't find absolutely anything else, if you are planning to come here for a trip

Another request for Osaka (and also Kyoto).

I remember visiting a metal shop in Osaka about 5 years ago, but can't remember the name. I do remember that it was close to the Disk Union - about a 5-10 minute walk.

Some places I shop at when in Osaka.

Rock Stakk Records (this is the store you were thinking of)
Address: 〒530-0027, Kita Ward, Doyamacho, 4−4 阪急東ビル 2F

Time Bomb Records is good for vinyls, mostly older rock/metal
Address: 〒550-0015, Nishi Ward, Minamihorie, 1 Chome−11−1 三共四ツ橋ビル B1F

King Kong, CD/vinyl/shirts
Address: 〒542-0086 Osaka, Chuo Ward, Nishishinsaibashi, 1 Chome−6−14 B1F

You mentioned Disk Union and I recommend them also. Lots of cheap vinyl/CDs and a wide selection.

I was in Nepal in 2002 and even then I could only find cheap bootleg copies on CD though hardly any metal. Queen and RHCP were pretty much the loudest bands hahaha.
But I admit I wasn't actively busy looking for music shops but just happened to come across a few.
So it's even gotten worse then?

Zions Gate in Seattle has a good metal selection. Kind of on the high side price-wise though. They also have an Everyday Music right around the corner. Unfortunately, it's closed. Everyday Music in Bellingham was awesome. I found a lot of metal gems in their bargain section. However, the owner just passed away and it changed to Ritual Records. I have not been there since the change.

I am thinking of moving to Boise (or near by) how is the scene down there? I see there are a decent amount of record stores, any recommendations?

Hi! I'm looking for a metal store in Paris. If there are metal clothes with y2k style like on https://y2k-clothing.us, I will be the happiest person on this forum. I want my 2000s metal outfit to be relentless! Thanks ;)

I will be in Chicago and Michigan for the summer and looking for metal shops there. I'm mainly looking for band merch and records (especially black metal), but all recommendations would be appreciated a lot. Thanks.

I picked up Cairn by Mizmor and a Pelican record there. I remember there being a varying metal selection too. So yeah I highly recommend this place. Lots of stuff outside of metal too!

Anyone know of a metal music store in Glen Burnie, Maryland? There use to be a record and tape traders here but it closed down many years ago. I loved that store damnit!.
Any information is appreciated.
