Great song isn't it? I believe it wouldn't be as good without the vocals of the Jansen sisters on the evil chorus. "Songs of The Ocean" is also very nicely composed.

Glad everyone approved, it's a really magic show - it's going to take a view runs through to fully appreciate I think !

Today's offering - the completion of my set of 'Dark Princess' releases. Visions of Atlantis or someone next

Not much metal in here but it's been fun so far:

Deep Purple - Whoosh!
Butthole Surfers - Electriclarryland (thanks again Umbrella Academy)
The Smiths - Meat is Murder (Chris Gethard's last special made me curious)
John Zorn - The Painted Birds (a description I saw of this online piqued my interest)
Stereolab - Mars Audiac Quintet (Just filling in the collection)

from just what I've seen on a few pages of scrolling through this thread a vast majority of you guys are purchasing older albums. I'm the same. I'll discover, like in the 2020s, an album from the 90s or 80s that I like and buy it. Is current metal not appealing to a major part of the metalhead fandom ? Seems like it.

Speaking for myself, the more years that pass by, the less music I tend to check out. I don't know if it's growing out of the majority of new bands that come out and preferring what I liked back the the 80s to the mid 00s or that I just have enough music that "more" is just not needed at this point. I literally have a collection of several 1000 LPs (then I have Spotify also... which is a whole other can of worms). I think that everything has pretty much been done to a certain extent imo and very, very little that comes out now is "mindblowing" anymore to me. On average the last 5 years, I may hear 1 or 2 new bands a year that pique my interest and that's probably mostly from my lack of interest tbh. At 42yo I just don't have the drive to search out new music every single week like I did when I was 15-35-ish. Plus all of my all time favorite bands have members that are either dying off or the bands are calling it quits. It's depressing in that way...

I can't lump everything together as "current metal" as that would not be fair to the certain few bands that break the mold and are really amazing, but, yeah I've definitely become less interested in checking out newer music post.... say 2005 or so with very few exceptions.

I still purchase some of both, yet I have a lot of older music I've already heard numerous times but don't own yet, so I intermittently tend to work on rectifying that first.

yeah it's that old topic. I'd say metal bands now are more interested by sounding big and impressing the listener, so as a result there's an overwhelming amount of albums that are just about production, or super technical, but pretty hollow song-writing wise. Bands are no longer willing to go the route of risk taking. They want to make sure they conform to the rest just to be heard.

Sorry I'm dumb - it's Hot In The Shade. Must have had another album on the brain that mixed with that.

Really fun album. Guessing they used a song from here on the show? If so what song?

Yeah the song "Pepper" is in one of the episodes toward the end. It's a really adventurous, absurdist sort of album. Been digging it.

Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle
Hate Forest - Sorrow
Graveland - Immortal Pride
Nagelfar - Als die Tore sich öffnen
Agalloch - The Serpent & the Sphere

Ordered some shit today.

Paladin - Ascension (LP)
Darkspace - I (cd)
Midnight - Rebirth by Blasphemy (cd)
Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse (cd)

I was torn between Darkthrone - Under a Funeral Moon or that Darkspace as I fill out my black metal collection, which lacks compared to other genre. But I get more out of that Darkspace. Been meaning to get that Emperor for a long time. Midnight is a blast so I picked that up finally and man listening to that Paladin on YouTube lately and its some smoking shit!

Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum
Deathspell Omega - The Synarchy of Molten Bones
Taake / Whoredom Rife - Pakt
Whoredome Rife - Dommedagskvad
Svartidaudi - Flesh Cathedral
Svartidaudi - Revelations of the Red Sword

All vinyl.

I quite enjoy Deathspell Omega but it was interesting to note how underwhelming the physical product appears in comparison to the other stuff in this haul. The artwork and packaging on the others is all outstanding.

Adorned Graves - Being Towards A River

Their debut album has been one of my favorite and most-listened-to albums since its release so I've got ultra high expectations for this one. :D I can't wait for my copy to arrive!

I just got 2 Devil Doll album: Eliogabolus (or however it's spelled) and "The Girl Who Was Death".

I haven't listened to them yet but I'm expecting good things because lots of people have mentioned them as being very unique sounding.

You're in for a treat. Devil Doll is sublime. I like both records you mention but Ellogabalus is my fave. Cinematic and rich moments. "Mr Doctor" is haunting.

Also, Mr Doctor being "MrDr" is Murder. Hmmmmm.....

MARILYN MANSON: We Are Chaos (with bonus tracks)

First album I've purchased since the epidemic, and the second CD I've purchased this year. 2020 will by far be the year I've purchased less stuff. Got a Puissance album and a Ministry DVD on order too.

Charnel Altar - Demo
Tetragrammacide - Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix
Caronte - Wolves of Thelema
Deathspell Omega - Manifestations 2002
Deathspell Omega - Si Monvmentvm Reqvires Circvmspice
Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
Misotheist - Misotheist
Deus Mortem - Kosmicide
Null - Entity
Impetuous Ritual - Bane of Europe

All vinyl.

With the exception of the DSO albums this was pretty close to being a blind haul with most of the others only being listened to for 5 minutes or so to see if it was something I could potentially be interested.
Looking forward to slowly working my way through, but already enjoying Caronte and Deus Mortem. As for Null, really like the music but if would be spot on if the vocals were probably about 2 notches lower.
