How those print-on-demand CD-R discs are still a thing nowadays is something that I just can't understand. I remember when someone posted on the bootlegs thread about it years ago, when they started doing that shit. It's just horrible but people are still buying that. Man, what the hell...

@doommetalalchest,

The question marks and the beach scene and you were only suspicious it wasn’t the real item eh? I have a couple of these but no beach scene. I complained and amazon gave me my money back. Never replaced them though. Heads up if you are giving someone a metal cd to get you for Christmas or a birthday, always give the site to order it from otherwise you’ll be starting a collection of these.

I ordered this, as well. I haven't received it yet but I got it from Soundage Productions, so hopefully mine won't be a bootleg. What gives you that indication that they're a bootleg?

Oh, you're going to love this...

Back cover of the Aeterna CD:

Back cover of the Plemя CD:

Accoding to MA, Soundage is the label the Plemя album was officially released on, so you'll have no problem like this.

Holy crap. How did that ever get printed with a straight face? Did nobody double-check the question marks? I hope you get reimbursed from Amazon. I'm curious to see how my CD's turn out.

Maybe the people still buying them are like me, didn't know what they're buying until it's too late.

I actually don't feel particularly compelled to ask amazon for a refund or anything. I'll keep them for now, but may try to replace them with legit copies if I ever come across them for a decent price.

You're probably right, it's the fine print that gets people screwed most of the time. But after years of this practice I just thought that there would be enough backlash against its practice as to not make it a thing anymore. With all the Internet's rage and that kind of stuff, you know?! But people don't seem to care that much about it. And this is Amazon, a really small enterprise, so why am I even considering that they'd be "forced" to change their habits... Yeah, I was a bit naive there.

PS: Well, one of them is available for cheap prices (not sure about shipping though): https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?maste ... 8478&ev=mb

The other one being a self-released CD-R should be a bit trickier. At least I hope that Discogs link helps in any way. (Wait, got a hold of a VK page: https://vk.com/market-17664593 You may need to learn Russian though! :D)

The whole thing is baffling to me. If you are buying the physical product, you probably care about the album art and booklet. Otherwise you’d buy MP3. Is their target audience people who aren’t savvy enough to burn CDs?

I guess it's probably just fine print on a music distribution contract. If they have the rights to distribute the digital version then why not print on demand physical copies as well? It's an extra buck if people don't care enough to have proper album art/booklet/etc, or in the case where the CD version is prohibitive in terms of price at least it's not a bootleg because it's licensed? But yeah, it's still a loophole. Amazon is just milking its music distribution rights I guess.

@forestcorpse Any suggestions for must listens out of all those records you ordered? Looks like a lot of stuff I would like, but I've only heard a handful of them.

Andeis
Lunar Mantra
Det eviga leendet
Krukh

Classic Fallen Empire BM releases with great atmosphere.

The finnish stuff in the 3 picture, killer stuff.
Hail Conjurer is really cool stuff, spacy as hell.

All the portuguese stuff (Vetala,Voëmmr,Holocausto em chamas and more...) If you are into really raw and bleak BM.
Great stuff, big fan of the portuguese underground scene.

Oh and Sulphur Aeon, some really well done DM!
All their albums are great, this is the 3 one, newest.

Leader_OCola: Killer post there, so much goodies! :D

Saw some absurd prices for Anaal Nathrakh on Amazon, found their BandCamp page, but was disappointed in the lack of physical versions. Stopped at Cheapo (local chain that is still somehow around) and found them.

Picked up:

Anaal Nathrakh: The Whole of the Law
Anaal Nathrakh: Desideratum

Got in the car with my kid and threw one in and asked if he was ready for some crazy ass Metal.

These arrived yesterday:

Dusk - Dusk / ...Majestic Thou In Run
Dusk - Withdraw

Great stuff. I'm curious if Morgion's EP's name (Among Majestic Ruin) was at all influenced by Dusk or if it's just a coincidence.

A little less than $5.00. The quality of the CD was Good+ at best. But it's okay, I'm going to rip it to mp3 anyway. But very satisfying to finally get it as I've been looking for it for years. I stumbled upon a copy being sold before via Facebook but got beat to the punch. I'm looking for "Tyr" next.

Chilled-out shit I can play in my apartment so that my flatmates don't pound me into dust.

Also pre-ordered the upcoming Traveler LP. The hype...

Well, it was a used a copy and the dude who sold it isn't knowledgeable in pricing his CDs. I got all of those CDs for $5.00 each and they are not bootlegs.

I don't think I've posted in this thread in quite a bit. I'm only gonna track the physical media purchases I make here, which should be easy as it is relatively few. With vinyl, I am only going to note color variants if it is known that there are multiple colors-otherwise, assume black if I don't make a note of it. So..

Mayhem-Chimera, LP, 2018 Season Of Mist repress, black vinyl.

Stilla-Synviljor, LP, 2018 Nordvis first press.

Astronoid-Astronoid, 2xLP, 2019 Blood Music first press, translucent green vinyl.
