I'm posting this to re-open the discussion I was too late to in another thread,
what certain things about metal in general piss you off?

One of my worst is pitch shifted vocals.
It's a piss off but won't make me automatically stop listening if I like the rest of the music (case in point Last Days of Humanity)

I also hate receiving insta-labels for liking a 'wrong' band or genre.

When things don't piss me off, I get pissed off.

I really hate when bands over use that common melodic metalcore/death core break down, the one that goes something like this for almost every instrument and vocal melody,

|:-------------|-----------:|
|:-------------|-----------:|
|:-------------|-----------:|
|:-------------|-----------:|
|:-------------|-----------:|
|:-X-X-XXXXX-|X-X-XXXXX:|

with an unoriginal melodic lead over it. I'll admit im a little bias towards metalcore and deathcore, and they frequently use this style of breakdown, that might be why I hate it, or just that it is overused in my opinion.

I also cringe when I hear someone refer to metal to scream-o, but without that stereotype I never would have ever even knew of scream-o as a genre, which I very much enjoy alot now.

I don't forsee this thread lasting very long, but I guess the thing I like least in Metal subculture is the general sense of apathy/indifference (though this is coming from the perspective of someone who grew up with metal and then got all into Crust/Anarcho-Punk and became a self-righteous douche).

Honest answer, though. BTW, I am learning to not think that way in recent years. Getting back into Metal, but still not so much the negative stereotypes associated with "Metal subculture", or being permissive of things I dislike in Metal just because they might "sound good".

Like NS stuff. I don't do that... I don't bitch about it either, though I do hate when people excuse racism because it happens to be wrapped up in a pleasant musical package or something (happens just as much in the Noise scene, so I'm not saying it's a problem with metal, but it seems to be an issue in extreme music in general).

Layered vocals during a chorus. hate it and don't know why really. Just makes me cringe. Suppose that is why tons of power metal throws me off even though I like a lot from the genre. It really sucks actually but that is just the way it is.

I hate that I fit the small town metalhead stereotype.

Even worse, I have a job interview at a gas station soon

man, I wish I had a job...
I fit the stereotype of being a fucking basement dwelling dweeb in his mid-20's who's unemployable and lives with his mom to a T.
