That one was very tricky matrix code, my scanner wasn't able to scan it. Maybe too cheap scanner.
So I made couple of photos, I guess you can see, how it have to look like.

I just got one of these tapes, b&w paperwork and gold printing on the clear/grey tape. Anyone know anything about it? evidently it is a bootleg

Got this Black Sabbath - Tyr not long time ago from one guy from Bulgaria. Cat# EIRSACD1038 Jewel case was very cheap (probably changed), booklet smells for paint as it was just printed and matrix code looked also strange But now looked on it again and I'm confused, could it be perfectly done bootleg or it is still original edition? So what do you experts think?

I wouldn't even remotely trust it given all the little clues you're presenting. Cat # in the matrix may be an indicator, you'll have to find an original to compare it to. |

Cat# in the matrix area definitely doesn't ring a bell for me in that case. This matrix form is quite typical for EMI pressing plant in Swindon, I have quite much other releases from same plant, cat# form is same. What I don't know, what is exact manufacturing year, on other releases used font is little bit different. But really only little bit, it is possible, that plant just changed it. Like you wrote, first I hadn't no trust either, but in case of just strange coincidences, I don't want to be unfair. |

I don't know man, like I said I just wouldn't trust it all things considered. It's not like it's worth anything though, but it's not the first time that's happened [bootleg of a common CD] In fact if I was a bootlegger I'd do the common stuff not the rarities

GAS 0000336ESM is a distribution code I think I don't remember the label that uses it though, could be BMG ? This could easily just be a South American version, I have had a poke around a bit and Brazil turns up the most often in my various searches. Does it have a Mould SID Code too or just a Mastering SID code? IFPI L139 points all over the place too but Brazil comes up more than anything else. |

Dio_For_Ever, about your Black Sabbath, I'm afraid 50/50 (official/bootleg) I have not seen those original Black Sabbath reissues, so I can't be sure. What I don't like, it is matrix code printed so near at the edge. And all the digits pressed to each other. Again, this is wild guess, it could be easily official edition. |

That one looks like a typical EMI disc.. there's a lot of shoddy looking reissues of Tyr floating around with butchered artwork and generic back cover layouts, they're ugly but legit. |

That copy of The Eternal Idol looks a bit shady though, usually those Black Sabbath reissues have the country of manufacture stated somewhere on the disc. Plus the matrix looks generic and all the ones I have are made by Mayking or Disctronics. |

I've just been sorting through my CD collection and assigning the correct version on my collection page and I've come across a version of Gorgoroth - Incipit Satan that I cannot find anything on. It's a digipak with catalogue number BR0059 and with the same on the CD....it is gold CD so I'm guessing it's probably a bootleg but someone has gone to a great effort to making a good quality digipak... (everything else looks the same as the normal version, artwork etc. Anyone got any info on this 'pressing'? |

The lighting in my room is a bit rubbish but hopefully those photos will suffice - the catalogue number is on the bottom of each page of the booklet, on the spine and on the CD (both sides), but other than that, no mention whose pressed it. |
