First two releases from Pariah. Bootlegs left, original right. No idea what they were thinking when making the CD artwork, inlays may have been done with hi-resolution scans and no original discs at all as the "Blaze Of Obscurity" bootleg doesn't even have the same sound as the original.

I buy this The Gathering/Mandylion CD, but I can't find this version, looks like US version, but below in the corner there is no "RED" white letters on the black square.

Also, matrix is 12405 6
IFPI 9F09

And there is a additional text say: crest natlca

I Google it and appears some other releases in discogs site like Duran Duran.

So, is a re-release, bootleg or is legit?

Just a re-issue. The RED is likely blacked out because at the time of re-issue they probably weren't the distribution company anymore. I have multiple CM US releases with the RED blacked.

A lot of the Mausoleum Classix series were bootlegged a few years ago. There's information on Discogs about the differences between original and bootleg but it does little to help and simply causes confusion.

"When you hold up cd to the light and look at silver side you can see the band name through the disc, you can't on originals."

Not 100% accurate. You may be able to hold them up to daylight or a soft light and notice a difference, however, if you hold the bootleg or original up to a 60 watt light bulb or stronger you'll be able to see through both versions.

"Back of inlay card lists all of the titles in the series on most of these (not all) , This is not found on originals."

This doesn't really do anyone any favors as there are multiple original releases that list the other titles on the back of the card. There's also bootleg versions that don't list the other titles in the series. So this does nothing to clear anything up.

If you want to know which ones are originals and what indicates bootleg it can be found in the stacking ring. The originals have a wider and deeper stacking ring which was very common for discs pressed in the 80's and 90's. The photo below has 6 Mausoleum Classix discs, the top row are bootlegs and the bottom originals. Identifying these by the stacking ring is your best bet for understanding what version you have.

To bad, I know that before I buy it, I wanna drop in the trash, I don't like reissues.

Anacrusis "Suffering Hour"

Russian bootleg left, original right. Easy to tell them apart by the matrix, but there's other differences such as the original having glossy coated inlays and the bootleg not.

As it turns out, the RaHoWa "Ueberfolk" album is a bootleg released without George Burdi's permission. Although Rage Records releases authentic material, this album has been denounced by Burdi in an interview. I've submitted a report for its removal.

Source/Evidence:

George Burdi wrote:
The “RAHOWA” release of Überfolk material is a bootleg, released without my permission, using demo tracks that had been circulating the internet. I no longer release material under the RAHOWA name. The actual Überfolk debut album will be a double LP and will be released in early 2018.

I just got a used copy of Exultet's I soldati della croce very cheap on ebay.

To my surprise, the CD has a greenish underside, just as with old school CD-Rs. Neither MA nor discogs make a mention of the original release being a CD-R, but Exultet's second album from 2015 is a CD-R.

The matrx number on my copy of I soldati della croce is 2K063D0883680.

According to MA, the album was released in November 2010, but according to my tray card, and according to discogs, the album was released in 2011.

Bootleg or no? I'm inclined to believe its a bootleg just for the green underside alone, but since their other album is a CD-R, who knows.

If you're referring to the Metal Blade Russian bootleg the matrix wont match this:

But it will look different. If it doesn't match the physical traits of the one in the photo I linked, bootleg. The stacking ring will also be different on the Russian version.

Your matrix will look different, as well as the top of the disc. Discogs has photos of both versions, very easy to tell by the top of the disc if you're not familiar with matrix's.

I don't know if this is a legit copy or a bootleg, but this is Hexenhaus - The Edge of Eternity. I would like confirmation if my copy is a legit copy or a bootleg.

It's a bootleg. Give me a second and I'll upload what the real one looks like.

They look extremely close. But man, is it ever depressing to see the pressing I got was a bootleg. :(

Alright guys, here is an interested one.

Godkiller "The Rebirth Of The Middle Ages" CD Red/White disc.

The discogs posting states that the matrix is ['DADC AUSTRIA' Logo] A0100199573-0101 21 A0
But the matrix on this copy is ['DADC AUSTRIA' Logo] A0100199573-0101 21 A1

Yet I can not find a single entry that links any matrix ending in A1. It says they all end in A0. Other than that, everything is exactly the same, even the typset on the matrix. Any help?

Can you post a matrix photo of the A1 version?

If the font is the same and everything is the same but a sequential number at the end it's supposedly legit. Matrix variations are abundant, don't expect every last one of them to be online. ;)

Hails,

I'm looking for information about this release from Vulcano (Brasil).

It's a CD named "We are The True !"

It looks a japanese CD with 1998 "Who are the True?" album + extra material as bonus.

Someone know anything about it ?

Hey,

I am worried that my copy of "The Black Halo" by Kamelot is not authentic. 2 reasons:

1. The artwork on the disc is in black and white

2. The Mould SID code on my disc is different from the ones listed on here.

Here are some pics:

https://imageshack.com/a/N7ko/1

Here are the identifiers for my disc:

Barcode: 693723695723
Mould SID Code: IFPI 0764
Matrix / Runout: 51357777/80000802 21
Rights Society: GEMA
Label Code: LC 09002

Thanks!

Here is another CD I'm worried might be a bootleg. "Sagas" by Equilibrium.

Some pics:

https://imageshack.com/a/K3Uo/1

Reasons why I believe it's a bootleg:

1. The artwork on the disc looks somewhat faded
2. The Matrix/Runout code on my disc is different from both the one listed on here as well as the one on Discogs.

Here are the identifiers for my disc:

Barcode: 7 27361 18212 0
Labelcode: LC07027
Mastering SID Code: IFPI LR76
Mould SID Code: IFPI UGAA
Matrix Code: CAP00207 NB1821-2DLT 04 Technicolor
Catalogue number: NB 1821-2
Rights Society: GEMA

Thanks!
