Isn't Rutan producing this? I never got into any Devourment but for that fact alone I'm definitely going to give this a chance.

Rutan producing something is a point against it IMO.

This sounds okay but I've never cared for Devourment and this doesn't change my opinion.

sounds very good. I'm glad that Mike Majewski uses other vocal styles other than the usual cum gurgling that he does. John Gallagher's done the same thing, as he enunciates more on the new Dying Fetus. I am really impressed by this.

Oh fuck yes. That was a great song. Production was pretty great; personally I believe slam benefits from a rawer sound, but that's not really something to expect from Rutan so I'll take it. I imagine this will be more well received than Unleash the Carnivore was. Also, the merch selection of the new album is insane: http://www.relapse.com/slam-dunk-pack.html

I can't believe that a Devourment snapback finally exists :D And the fact that they called it the "slam dunk" package... Truly we live in amazing times.

EDIT: Also, for the gentlemen who prefers to rep sweatpants and hoodies while slamming that sickness: http://www.relapse.com/winter-warmachine-pack.html

Yeah because Phoenix Amongst the Ashes sounded awful.

I think I'll pass on this. The vocals remind me of later Chris Barnes and it's a bit too slam for my taste.

For whatever reason, Rutan's own Hate Eternal albums seem to sound worse than anyone whom he produces for otherwise. I know there's probably a conscious decision behind sounding different, but it's kept me from fulling enjoying his own material to its fullest potential.

This, however, sounds quite good - both the production and the song itself. If the rest of the album is of at least similar quality in the songwriting department, I'll probably be picking this up as well.

Preordered it days ago...I need a new pair of sweats since my Defeated Sanity logo trousers have racked up a ton of mileage. Also, I like how a few days ago the pack for the ladies was called "Bitches and Brutality" and now it's Babes.

This track didn't hit me the way I wanted it to, but I'll give it a few more listens before I form an opinion. I will say that Mike definitely brought his best for this recording...fucking beastly performance.

I thought that Devourment package was fake. I want it now.

And yes I agree. Rutan producing a Devourment album sounds like a terrible idea. Unleash the Carnivore sounded so brutal and the teaser was good but not too exciting. As long as they got the slam you know I will jam.

I listened to the track once and didn't care for it at all. The first half was incredibly boring and I didn't care for Mike's new vocal style. The slam in the middle wasn't bad but I feel that they didn't build up to it properly, they just kinda threw it in there. Weak lyrics as well. The Conceived in Sewage trailer (the one with the cover art) posted a couple of weeks ago got me really hyped up with it's monster slam so I'm still anticipating this album. I hope the other tracks put this one to shame.

Man listened to the song and I am very disappointed. No sick blasts and I didn't hear a slam until 2 minutes in! Very disappointing and now I don't even want to listen to the other songs. Just another boring death metal band.

Dat animated cover art. I think I like the sound of Mike's voice compared to past efforts, but the music is pretty average and the song titles and even worse. "Fucked with Rats" what the hell is that? As far as new slam-type stuff coming out, I think I'll stick to the new Katalepsy, Guttural Secrete and possibly Cephalotripsy if anything comes of that.

Meh, it's Devourment. They're my least favourite slam band and I never understood the hype. This song was decent enough while it was playing but I feel no urge to relisten.

Really? Out of all the horrid Indonesian and Filipino bands, you seriously choose Devourment as your choice for least favourite?

Anyways, I just heard the new song and ew. I'm not that familiar with post-Molesting the Decapitated Devourment, but this sucked: awfully generic riffage and poorly fitting vocals leading up to what has to be the most uninteresting slam the band has ever written. This sounds like someone who has never heard slam before trying to create it based on a written description, and the fact that I have to say that about a band so influential to the subgenre really makes me sad. This particular slam wigger will not be slammin' dis shyt.

I like the direction they are headed in. I have to admit these two new songs are lacking in the slam department but Im sure they will come through on the album. Either way Devourment are bringing the riffs wich is a fine alternative for me.

The new song is even better than the first! I haven't been this stoked for a new album by an old band in a long time. One of the few cases where the first really is the best.

Very good material and sounds much better than 'Carnivore'.

It's no shroud of encryption or festering of vomitous mass, but most importantly, it's actually not bad. I wouldn't even recognize this as Devourment.

Those "Devour This" panties literally made me cringe. :ugh: It's pretty pathetic that I've yet to see a band make booty shorts/panties which didn't, in some way, try to sexualise the wearer. Talk about moronic. And you just know 90% of the people purchasing those are guys who are going to try to talk their girlfriends into wearing them. :nono:
