That's right folks, the stars of "Metalocalypse" are back in October with Dethalbum III. Check out the video for their new single here. http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/09/10/de ... h-subtext/

I love the full album title "One More than Periphery have made so far" that was effing hilarious. The music video was great too, I'll probably pick it up when its out like I did their last two.

The show is boring and the music crap, but hey, there's always hope, you know? I will check this out due to mere curiosity, but my expectations aren't high. At all.

Totally forgot about the show, me and some friends used to watch it all the time after band practice. I don't really think they're music is necessarily bad, just the form of death metal most likely to appeal to the masses. I dunno, might not check it out, I don't think I need to hear three albums of them.

The song released so far is probably the worst Dethklok song I've heard so far, and I'm not a fan. The vocals have somehow gotten even more laughable too. More along folks, there's (still) nothing to see here.

Deth Album I and II had some OK songs. The single from this one (and the rest of the music from season three, for that matter) is terrible. They are just another commercialised piece of 'Metal' crap these days. I'd almost rather listen to BMTH

It's really interesting, how a lot of metalheads don't like the show or their music, becouse they say it's a joke... no shit, offcourse it's a joke, it's supposed to be funny... sometimes it manages to do so, and sometimes it's just retarded. But the music is listenable for the times you just want to relax and not focus on a whole album, that would require you to do so. Mediocre band for fun times imo. Oh, I'm interested in the new material on that album so I'll be checking it out. :)

Mimogrede, it's not about whether or not it's a joke, but the fact that it isn't a funny one. Had Metalocalypse been an actually amusing show and the music at least solid, they would be received in a much warmer way. Considering how reality works though, its appeal is limited to people who believe Dimmu Borgir is the epitome of extreme music.

I like the show, the silly humor appeals to me. The music works fine in that context as bombastic extreme metal with pretty melodies and the fangs filed down, but I can't imagine listening to it on its own.

Never liked the show, always hated the music. Can't believe anybody would consider it as something worth listening to. I will go listen to both Spinal Tap albums now.

I do appreciate how Dethklok is turning non-metalheads into metal fans so I support his work. That being said, the music is very mediocre. But hey, whatever. :)

I don't care for the show (seen a couple episodes) or the music. I hate the vocals and boring melo-death riffs and the show is just boring and I don't find it funny.

However, with that being said they are easy enough to avoid that I don't have a problem with what they do. I have only heard them mentioned in the past few years simply because a friend of mine I met a few months ago is into the show. So all the hate towards them is a little unwarranted though as I don't see what there is to be threatened about. Metal purity? If so this would be useless as there are so many bands (quite a few popular ones) which are bridging the gap between metalheads and non-metalheads through a commercial and more accessible sound that you are just wasting energy.

I'm looking forward to it, I'm a fan of the show, it is one of the things that got me into metal really, I would probably still be listening to just metallica if it was for amon amarth being in the related videos on youtube back when the dethalbum II came out. Musically I think it's decent melodic death metal, songs like laser canon deth sentence, dethsupport, the gears, I tamper with the evidence at the murder site of odin, and bloodlines are pretty good. Their no immolation or amon amarth, but their alright in my books. The show was best during the second third, and fourth season I thought, I mean the rock-opera episode where pickles was in rehab was great, and I dont see anything like that metal show coming anywhere close to providing something metalheads can get into better than metalocalypse could.

Best music related track Dethklok has ever been included on is Nathan Explosion's appearance on the last Zimmer's Hole album on the Alphabet song. That was genuinely funny.

The television show amuses me, but I don't feel the music stands up well on its own.

Holy fucking shit what is with all the Dethklok hate here? I'm surprised no one has said they wish Brendon Small gets murdered. I understand maybe not liking the show, the humor may not appeal to you but just leave it at that, no need to make it seem like the creators are less than human. Not liking the music is ok too, I don't like country music, but I don't insult it in the harshest way I can. The only real reason all this furious hate is here is because of a supposed "commercialization" of metal music to the "poseur" masses.
halfformedfetus wrote:

This is exactly what I'm talking about, people are acting like metal is some fucking secret club of theirs that is only for the "trve kvlt" hardcore fans. The second bands like Metallica became popular, metal began commercializing, and those "poseurs" are out listening to things like Mayhem and Burzum already. That is not an excuse for disliking this. Personally the show does amuse me, and the music is pretty solid and is progressively getting better, although I think the vocal performance on DAII was the best. And guess what, I'm not some "HURR SLIPKNOT AND DETHKLOK SO BROOTAL METUHLS" poser, I also enjoy many other underground black metal or whatever qualifies you to be "trve". I'm totally looking forward to "Kloktober" 16th. Sorry for any harsh language that might offend or anything, mods can delete my post if it's against the rules. I just feel I should voice my opinion here.

So if people don't voice their dislike in exactly the way you want, it gives you the right to go on a huff-and-puff self indulgent tirade? Get the fuck over yourself. If people don't like it, they don't like it; period.

I understand criticism, I understand people saying "this music is bad, the vocals are dull, guitar is too "metal-core"" but the whole "People who I deem "poseurs" listen to this so it becomes even worse shit than what I already think of it" Does not seem like valid criticism. Probably could have worded my post better, I'm not meaning to sound like someone who only listens to what they want to hear.

Edit: kind of just realized I said the same thing as the previous post but think of it like this:
It seems(to me) that the users posting in this thread are basically purposely disliking(or at least more so) something because someone they don't like, likes it. If that makes any sense at all.

I know people are entitled to an opinion, am I not entitled to my own, and to voice my thoughts on the matter, is that not what "discussion" is?

legit LOL at the idea that there's some wide swath of people in the US who know who Dimmu Borgir is and that a cartoon on an almost universally carried cable/satellite network is providing a TV show distinctly for them.

Yeah, come on, I know who Dimmu Borgir is and they're pretty tame, and the show is still pretty damn funny in my opinion. On the topic of the album I think that "Skyhunter" from Rehabklok might be one of my favorites on the album. I believe I read in an interview that Brendon is not really putting too much melody into the vocals, and focusing more on the music. I'm not sure if that translates to "my growling is deteriorating" which is a shame because I enjoyed the vocals on DAII. I was put off by the vocals first time I heard "I Ejaculate Fire" but they've since grown on me.

I did not mean that Dimmu comment literally. What I meant is that Dethklok's music is apparently marketed towards people who wouldn't recognize good extreme music even if they got bitten in the crotch by it (and, at least judging by the people I know who enjoy the show, I don't seem to be wrong).

Sure you can pretty much assume that, seeing as the vocal majority are those idiots who go around spouting that "Dethklok is the most brootals band evah XD!!1!" but there are people such as myself and I'm pretty damn sure some people on these very forums who actually enjoy the show and the music yet don't praise it and know that there's "better", and that's defined however you want, bands out there in the extreme metal genre.

Of course, I can only speak about that idiotic vocal majority you mention. I'm not saying that every single person who listens to Dethklok/watches Metalocalypse is an ignorant jackass, though more than a few of them seem to be (again, because that's apparently Small's target audience). And godsonsafari, regarding people not knowing who Dimmu are in the USA..... Well, I live in the world's ass (the south of Argentina), yet I see Dimmu t-shirts/patches/merchandise/whatever fairly often when I go downtown. What does that tell you?
