From Facebook:

Quote:
Weapon
"The end of a melody is not its goal; but nonetheless, had the melody not reached its end it would not have reached its goal either. A parable." -
Friedrich Nietzsche.

And with the those words we announce the end of Weapon. There is no drama surrounding this decision: it is time for us collectively, and more importantly, as individuals, to move onwards and upwards towards other paradigms. We extend our gratitude to all who helped us succeed and of course send a massive "fuck you" to the ones who tried in vain to make us fail.

Blessed be ALL who bled for the Devil under the sign of W!

Kind of dickish of them to spend so much effort claiming the rights to their name and then split up before they even have a chance to use it much.

As I already said in the FFA:

That's all very sad and whatever, but that makes the dick move of forcing two bands into changing their name an even bigger, let's say black dick move.

Slightly disappointing to hear. I wasn't the biggest fan of them but I did enjoy what they had done and felt they had a few more even better albums in them.

Finally, their prejudiced crusade against the eternal truth of Islam is over.

Cool story. Maybe the bands who called themselves Weapon before them can, you know, keep calling themselves that?

You gotta be a special kind of person to walk around thinking you own the rights to a fucking word like "Weapon".

Weapon was a pretty gnarly band. Lame.

I like their music, but it's pretty goddamn pathetic that they had gone through all that legal trouble just to push around other bands with the same name (some a few decades older than them) instead of peacefully coexisting just to split-up some months later. What a bunch of dipshits.

Re: name rights: What, like they planned to break up? lol

Well, that's pretty unexpected, but perhaps some more sinister death/black metal come of this.

Considering that, in their own words, their break-up is the product of a mere shrug and concession as opposed to internal conflict, I'd say that yes, they probably saw a dissolution coming at that point.

They aren't even the "Weapon" that I remember, from much further back. Yet they made legal claims to an incredibly common name as if they actually came up with something?

I don't even care what they sounded like. Good riddance, dumb asses.

What kind of bizarre law allows them to do this?

I think their best move is to be reborn as a speed/power metal band. It's where their inspiration lies.

Not even touching the legal matters (I have no interest in the matter) but sad to see a great band go. Really enjoyed their latest work, thought they could've built from that but oh well.

Well, that's an unexpected move. I was curious to see where they would go from Embers and Revelations (which was one of my favorite albums of last year), but I guess we won't find out now.
